Marcus' POV

My tears dripped down wetting the card box as I remembered. I miss the way her eyes lit up when she learned something new.

"I see you've done your fair share of exploring" A voice spoke up and I wiped my cheeks as I stood up quickly looking over at the woman who stood in the doorway.

Her hair was a ginger color and her eyes the deepest blue I've ever seen.

"Diana" I acknowledged and she nodded her head slowly.

"Marcus, you have gotten yourself in quite a mess haven't you?" She spoke kindly. No one would have ever guessed that this woman was the leader of the Calaveras. She was the one that took Amanda in.

"I- I need to leave." I held the ring in my hand remembering that Nico and Ariano probably think I'm dead.

"Marcus, calm down. I do have a few things to discuss with you." She looked down at the box and for a split second I saw the pure grief before it became nonchalance. She was pretending, just as I have been.

"You may take what you like from the box. After you're done please follow me." She said, looking away. I already had the ring, that was all I needed. I put the box back and followed her down the hall until we reached a kitchen where food was already taken up on a plate for me.

"Why am I here?" I looked down at the sausage, eggs and waffles on my plate. It was my favorite, but how would she know that?

"Amanda spoke a lot about you. She happened to mention everything you loved as well." She told me as if she was reading my mind.

"Now, what is the last thing you remember Marcus?" I thought about it but the more I tried to remember the more clouded my mind became.

"Uhm.... I was at the estate, and Adam betrayed us. They were trying to fake my death to make Nico give in." She sipped her tea slowly and winced as I said it.

"And that's it?" I nodded my head and I looked down at my plate.

"Marcus.... It's been three weeks since then." I blinked at her as my stomach felt queasy.

"That's a joke right?" She didn't smile.

"Marcus, how much do you remember in general? Who are the most important people in your life?" She asked, setting her mug on the counter across from me as I sat at the island table.

"Amanda was one. Ariano, Nico...." I thought hard on who else I knew but came up with blanks.

"Marcus it's okay, just name everyone you remember." She encouraged gently.

"Adriano.....He was someone I did business with. I have a few friends in the mafia. Dominic, Alicio, Theo, Quintin....uhm..." My mind continued drawing blanks, but I remembered two people in particular, Connie and Daze. They were there when I lived under the bridge....
