Ariano's POV

"What happened to you?" Biancalla asked, looking at her brother who sat in the wheelchair.

"I got hurt, but I'm okay." He reassured and she climbed onto his lap and laid across it as I rolled them both to the living room.

"Nico, you will give me a heart attack one day. I hate it when you get hurt." Maria kissed his forehead before she tickled Biancalla's stomach.

"And Ariano, I'm glad you aren't hurt." Her hand ruffled my hair.

Valentino walked in, glancing over at Nico before looking up to me.

"So Elias wants a war?" I nodded my head.

He looked back to his son. "How would you like to proceed?"

"I won't retaliate. I'm trying to avoid a war. But I do have an idea. I'm going to fake my death and let Ariano become the temporary leader."

"Again?" His little sister sat up and he laughed giving her a kiss on her cheek.

"Yes again. This time I'm hoping to have a year to plan it perfectly. The only problem is, I'll be hiding that I'm alive from my own gang and yours. It has to be believable. Elias would back off, giving us enough time to find a way to take him down. So we can kill him without the casualties."

"Oh and how is Marcus doing? It's a good thing he was home." Maria looked towards her son with a smirk.

"He's doing well." Nico answered.

"Are you going to tell him about you faking your death?" I asked him.

"After I plan all the details of it, I will inform him of it. I don't want to lose him a second time." He mumbled.

"A second time?" Maria questioned. I totally forgot we didn't tell anyone about what happened ten months ago. Of how Marcus tried to kill us, then kidnapped us. She and Valentino have no idea that they almost had to start trying to train Biancalla to take over both gangs.

"They stopped talking for a while. Just some petty stuff." I spoke quickly, covering up our lie.

"Ariano, can you take me to get some ice cream?" Biancalla asked, hopping off of her brother's lap and reaching up to me instead.

My hands went under her arms and lifted her until she was able to wrap her hands around my neck.

"Maybe next time? Okay? I promise." She nodded her head and rested her chin on my shoulder.

I felt her breathing slow until I knew she was sleeping. She tended to fall asleep a lot whenever I held her.

"In the next six months hopefully I'll have something solid and believable." Nico went on. We had established that we would come back in three months to pool our ideas together and come up with the best option.
