"try outs"

The captains and coaches of each team walked to their places. Willa stood next to Niki as her eyes gazed at the aspiring cheerleaders that were lined up in front of Kara Loski. Kara was the cheer coach and can be hard when it came to conditioning that was why her and Willa were careful to pick which girls to join their team.

Her eyes moved to the walking freshmen that followed Callum Knight. Callum was the swim team coach. Jack and Charlie were just behind him as the new comers followed after them. Her lips turned up into a smile when she saw the familiar brown hair of her brother.

"Go and rock the try outs flounder!" she yelled. This caught the attention of everyone. Phil, her father and football coach laughed and followed her gaze. There behind Jack was Toby Baker.

He blushed and crossed his arms. Before they entered the swimming area Toby turned and glared at his sister. "Will you stop calling me flounder!" he yelled before running after the rest of the group.

Tommy laughed as he stood in front of Felix Davids, the soccer coach. Willa turned back to the girls and crossed her arms when the try outs started.

"If you don't know what you signed up for please step back." Kara said as she stared at the group of girls. "Cheer is not just the uniform or the dance moves or the flips and flying. Its teamwork and trust, its about camaraderie and friendship. Our team has held the title. Thanks to these girls behind me. If you wish to join our team, make sure you will make us better not worse." She said with intense eyes.

A few girls stepped back which didn't surprise the captain. Willa was called in front with Niki. "This is Nikita Angelus the co-captain." The shorter blonde waved and smiled. Kara patted Willa's back as she studied the girls, "And this is Willa Baker our captain for 3 years now." She said proudly.

"She had led us to multiple championships and not once have we come home without a trophy in hand. It doesn't matter if its the champions or any other place. She will be leading the try outs. Respect her because she is your superior." She said and walked to sit by the rest of their team.

Willa narrowed her eyes and nodded at Niki who skipped to the speaker, a beat played and she smirked. "Listen carefully. This is the song that you will be learning today. This led us straight to the semi finals." She said proudly.

The girls that were trying out gulped. "Don't worry you're safe with the flips and flight. Now if you girls will separate to these groups." She started dividing the girls and divided the team to teach them their piece.

She walked around with Kara in front watching the girls. The bases, Puffy, Hannah, Emma and Rae made sure that the girls trying out for their position had a great grip and strength. Minx led the bakspotters and made sure they knew how to catch and the flyers; Niki, Tina and Maddy showed them the proper positions.

As the try outs continued, pyramids were made, flips were performed, dance moves were added and positions were conducted. Kara clapped her hands and the team stood behind her and Willa. "Before you perform I would like you all to watch a simple routine that had led to our team winning champions last year." She said as she snapped her fingers.

Willa stood in the middle as Minx played the song and ran to her position. "Me Too" by Meghan Trainor started playing and the team flashed them with a smile.

The song catching the attention of other teams and they stopped as the cheer team performed just a piece of their winning routine. Their hips swaying, arms in perfect position, their moves clean as Willa and Niki led them.

The flips on time, jumps in perfect form and the pyramid executed perfectly. As the chorus played, Willa and the rest of the flyers were up in the air and their jumps with a smile and executing the proper drop to their catchers.

And as the song ended a round of applause was heard and Willa smiled at the girls trying out. "Your performance today will either show us if you're good enough for our team. Now show us what you learned." She said as she cheered with the girls.

"Finally Falling" by the Victorious Cast started playing and the team watching carefully with some catches and spotters behind the girls that were performing.

The girls were performing nicely and they all had talent but one girl really stood up. Willa pursed her lips as she heard her girls behind her whispering the same name that she was thinking. She nodded and smirked.

As the song finally ended they all clapped and cheered. The girls trying out had big smiles on their faces. Kara nodded and motioned for Willa to speak. "You all blew us away but of course only a few slots are available. So if you are not accepted remember that there is always next year. The results will be up on Monday. Good job girls." She said with a kind smile.

As the girls cleaned up, Willa heard her name being called. She sighed and turned. Crossing her arms, there now in front of her was Clay. He panted and she raised an eyebrow at him.

"Spit it out Thompson I don't have all day." She said. Clay scoffed, "My sister-" "Yes. Clara Thompson." She cut him off. "She tried out?" he asked. She hummed and nodded.

They could feel the stares of the other students and even the coaches. "Well- I mean- How did- Did she-" "Your sister did great, like the other girls. She has potential." She said and turned around.

Clay huffed and grabbed her arm and turned her around. She snickered and stared at his hand on her arm. "Is she in?" he asked. She looked at him in disbelief, "And what makes you think that I'll tell you that?" she asked.

"Because I'll tell you whether Tom or Toby gets in-" "I don't need that because I know my brothers will do well. I trust them unlike you who don't trust their sister's ability in getting into a team." She said pulled her arm away.

"You didn't have to be a bitch about it!" Clay yelled. This made everyone stop. The ball that was going into the net was caught by Tommy who heard the captain's words. "Oh Jesus." Phil muttered walking to the two.

"What did you say?" Willa asked seething at his words. Never once did Clay call her bitch. She was called everything else but bitch by her nemesis and him calling her that in front of everyone made her furious.

Clay scoffed and crossed his arms, "I said you didn't have to be a bitch about it. I asked nicely-" "And I answered. I could have told you to fuck off but I answered your question." She said.

"Well I'm sorry if I worry for my sister-" "You should start trusting your sister's abilities, it'll take her places. That's all I can tell you because as a captain we have a thing called deliberation with your team and coach. I assume you know what that is or your helmet isn't saving your fucking brain from having memory loss." She said.

Clay clenched his jaw and was about to say something when Kara and Phil broke them apart. "Alright try outs are over." Kara announced as Phil pushed Clay from behind him. He stared at his daughter. Willa huffed and looked away. Turning back and walking to her team, Clay scoffed and did the same thing.

Phil sighed and looked at the rest of the people that was still by the fields. He clapped, "Show's over! Go on!" he yelled and glared at his team who scrambled to their feet. He sighed and glanced at Willa who was shoving her things in her bag. He shook his head and walked to his team. He patted Clay's back and started to talk to the team.

From the other side of the field, Felix walked to a stunned Tommy and patted his back, "That save my boy. You're a natural." He said. Tommy shook his head and smiled at the man. "Do it again Jacobs!" Felix yelled and ran away from the goal.

Karl smiled and ran to the ball and kicked it, Tommy gulped and jumped to keep the ball from the goal which made the team cheer. Felix clapped, "Where have you been all my career kid?" he asked with laughter.

Tommy smiled and looked across the field where Willa looked at him with a proud smile. He grinned and did his excited face as a sign to ask her if she saw. She nodded and whooped. Tommy chuckled and was whisked away by the team.

Needless to say, aside from the small argument between Clay and Willa, it was a successful try out.
