The caps were thrown in the air as that year's Clark High School graduates cheered. It was their last day at the school and they were very much excited to finish but also sad at the fact that they'll have to leave.
The captains had announced which member of the remaining team they have chosen to become their captains as they were leaving.
Wilbur and Eret had chosen Freddie to become the new captain of the Glee Club while Jack and Charlie chose Toby for the swim team.
Jimmy and Nick didn't think twice on choosing Luke as the new captain. George and Karl were pretty sure on leaving Ponk as the new captain with Tommy as their second choice.
For the cheer team Willa and Niki came to an agreement for Rae to become the new captain seeing as she had one more year left in high school to lead the team as well as to teach Clara and the new girls what she knows. Clay and Carver were proud to give Max the title which made the younger boy tear up.
That afternoon as the group were huddled together getting their pictures taken by their parents as they reminisced about their time in school, Clay pulled on Willa's fingers making her to look at him.
Willa looked at her boyfriend and smiled, "What is it?" she asked teasingly. He rolled his eyes playfully as he run a hand through her hair.
He took something out of his coat pocket with his free hand. Handing a folded paper she looked down at it and he chuckled. "My final paper for Dave." He said.
Looking up at him in shock he chuckled, "Well go on. Read it." he ushered and she hummed, grabbing the paper and opening it.

What is that one consistent thing I have in my life that I never want to lose? A whole lot of people may say that it's family. They don't lie, I would never want to lose my family at all but I think there's one other thing that have been so consistent in my life that I would be lost if it changed.
Wait let me change the pronoun, cause she's not an it. Oh no, she's a strong, independent, annoying, head strong and talented young woman.
The only person that can push my buttons. The only person that knows me, not as the football captain or the pretty face, she knows me because she hated me. Because of that she saw every parts of me.
Not just the good things or the things I put up as a show for others. She knows my fears and weakness that's why she has so much power on me.
Ever since Middle School. The moment her and her family returned from another country. Her new accent, new personality and appearance but she was still the same.
The same girl that knew how to annoy me and rile me up. She was the still the same girl that can detect if I was actually pissed off or just upset. The same girl that read me like an open book. The same girl that dunked purple paint on my car. The same girl that did prank bets with me. The same girl I had always protected in parties. The same girl that can light up a room with one word. The same girl that taught me how to work hard. The same girl that opened up so much in me. The same girl that would cheer me on in every game.
And it didn't matter what I did. No matter how annoying I was. She was just there whether I wanted her to or not. And no matter how much we hated each other, she was still there.
She was there when my fish died. She was there when I didn't have a ride to bring Patches to the vet. She was there when I broke my arm on my first game. She was there when our friends would get drunk. She was there to hit me in the head if I went out of line. She was there to keep my feet on the ground.
She was just there which I overlooked. She stayed even after everything I have done. She stayed after every prank, joke and glare. She stayed.
Her, in every red outfit, white ribbon and hair tie, art class and party. Her in every prom and homecoming dance. Her in every lunch with stolen peas and chicken, hallway and library visit. Her.
She was the most consistent thing in my life. My family changed over time, so did my friends but she never did.
Willa Baker was and always will be that one consistent person in my life that I never ever want to lose.
I am neither poetic nor artistic but I can make her smile, chuckle, cry, pissed off and more. I don't have much but I know I got her. So what else could I ask for am I right?

Willa blinked as she breathed in and out, the tears threatening to fall from her eyes. She calmly folded the paper as Clay grabbed her hand and the other caressed her cheek.
"So?" he asked as she looked up at him. She gulped and a tear fell from her eye. "Wills?" he whispered worriedly. "Did I say something-" Willa pulled him into a hug making him smile.
"That's why you didn't want me to read it." she muttered. He pulled away and cupped her cheeks. He nodded, "I had to get your brothers' approval of it first." He joked.
She giggled and wrapped her arms around his shoulders, "You are a cheesy fuck." She muttered as she leaned her forehead on his, closing her eyes in the process.
He gripped her waist and chuckled, "It works so far." He joked. She laughed and leaned closer, placing her lips on his making him smile. Pulling her closer, the couple bursting with happiness as they finally had each other. After years of eye rolls and arguments, they ended up together. Who would have thought huh?
