You shrink behind Brindleclaw, wrapping your tail around your leg. "No, I don't wanna leave Mama," you whine. "Can't I just be a kit forever?"
"Нет," mraows Brindleclaw through tears of laughter. "No, little kit must grow up, as all cats do." She notices your sadness, she rubs her head against hers. "Mama vill love you, no matter vhat. You vill always be little kit to me."
"Are you quite finished?" asked Brumestar curtly. She glares at you, her tail twitching in annoyance.
"Brumestar, remember zat zis is scary for little kit," coos Brindleclaw, wrapping her tail around you. "Nursery and Mama are only vorld zay have ever known."
Brumestar's expression grew thoughtful. "Hmm," she murmured. "There is another path available if you truly don't wish to be an apprentice. It's highly irregular, but if you have some kind of disability, mental or physical, I could make you an elder. The path of the elder is not unusually taken by one so young, but it is a noble one. If WillowClan were a tree the elder's would be her roots. They educate the rest of their clans with their stories, and are the clan's last line of defense if all other roles fall."
"An elder?" you ask. "Me? But I'm much younger than you Brumestar!"
Brumestar gives you a thin smile. "True, but if you really feel you are incapable of the rigours of an apprenticeship, the path of an elder is the safest the clan has to offer. Make no mistake, it might be difficult adjusting to living only with the youngest cats in the clan to living with the oldest. If you become an elder, you will never want for food or comfort, but you may never rise to the highest ranks in the clan. But this is all assuming you have some kind of disability. Do you, Y/Nkit? Do you even want to be an elder?"
1.Yes, you are either mentally or physically disabled. (Reply with how in particular you are.) The life of the elder is just what you're looking for, the others seem impossible for a cat like you. Go to Page 44.
2.You're mentally or physically disabled (reply with what your particular disability is) but you want to be able to care for cats like you. Your disability might make it harder for you, but you still want to be an apprentice like every other kit. Go to Page 45.
3.You aren't mentally or physically disabled, but you don't see why you should work for the rest of the clan. Just fake a headache or something, and Brumestar will have to give you the next best thing to life in the nursery. Go to Page 46.
4.You aren't mentally or physically disabled, and you're feeling braver now. The path of the Warrior is worth the risk, and besides you don't want to seem like a scaredy-kit. Go to Page 38.
5.You aren't mentally or physically disabled, but you're still scared of staying too far from Mama. If you were a medicine cat, you could help your clan and still stay close by her in case you needed Brindleclaw. Go to Page 39.
6.You aren't mentally or physically disabled, but you still want to be around kits and be taken care of. The path of the queen sounds like the ideal one for you. Go to Page 40.
