"Breathe Ana." I placed my hands on her shoulders.
"So many things could go wrong." She was hyperventilating.
"That's true, but nothing is going to go right if you aren't ready. So sit down and let my mother finish doing your hair." I pushed her back over to the chair.
At first, Ana and I were getting ready in different rooms, we wanted to try and be a little traditional.
But Ana and her nerves apparently had other plans.
I was mostly ready at this point. I didn't need to do anything special with my hair or makeup and putting my dress on was easy.
The makeup artist resumed on her face and I pulled out my phone.
At some point last week I had gotten very drunk with Ronan on a Skype call and invited him to the wedding.
I hadn't realized until the morning after when he asked if I was serious.
At first, I wanted to decline. I barely knew him and it was dangerous for Ana.
But I decided it would be good for us. I would make sure he wasn't armed and my mother's side of the family would be here.
If he tried anything he would be sitting next to highly trained assassins.
If he didn't, I might be able to trust him. A little.
He would be arriving soon, I told him to come early so I could lay down some rules.
Jesús knocked on the door. "Is everyone decent?"
"Yes," I responded.
He opened the door and immediately looked at me. "You're not supposed to be in here."
"I have anxiety J. I'm sorry I ruined my wedding by needing the other bride for seven minutes." Ana stared at him.
"I'm sorry- did you just call him J?" I looked at Ana.
"Yes, that's the first letter of his name. He calls me A sometimes too." Ana glanced at me.
"Yeah, but it doesn't make that sound. I don't know. Never mind." I shook my head.
For some reason, I was picking out all the little things today. It was probably nerves.
I glanced at my watch. I should probably go wait for our guest. "I'm gonna go. Jesús is your moral support now." I looked at Ana.
"Noo." She pouted. "I need you."
"I need you too, which is why I'm going. I'd prefer it if you didn't get shot." I walked to the door.
"He's not going to shoot anyone. You have trust issues." She was still pouting.
"You're right. He's not going to shoot anyone because I'm going to make sure he doesn't have a gun." I started to open the door.
