My first thought was what kind of a name is Mesmira. Yuck. My second thought was what kind of a person is a Mesmira? What kind of girls is Vega usually into? So many thoughts. Of course, I kept them all to myself. I didn't want to react to them or let Vega know about them, to show her she could trust me.

But the very next day, I got to digging.

Should I dig into her ex? Probably not. Am I crossing lines? Maybe. Am I ashamed that it bothers me? Just a little. Do any of these things stop me from doing it? No.

"What exactly are you doing again?" Cyrene asked me as I typed away at a computer in the library.

"Looking someone up, it will only take a second," I wave her off.

"You're stalling you're training," Cyrene crosses her arms.

"Yeah, yeah, yeah," I scroll through the student list.

Ah-ha! I found her. Mesmira Zaro. She's a transfer student and a lingual caster. Whatever the heck that means. I click her photo and zoom in on it. Cyrene peeks over my shoulder to look.

"Ah, I see." I see Cyrene smirk in the reflection of the computer screen.

"Shut up!" I blush in embarrassment.

She's from out of the country, so she's not even American. Apparently, she's very well known. I googled her name and found her social media, she has a lot of followers. Her profile pic is one of her and Vega. Vega is biting her ear in the photo and Mesmira is laughing. It's a cute photo, I'll admit, but it leaves a sour taste in my mouth.

"Young love, been there, done that." Cyrene sits next to me.

To put salt in the wound turns out the girl is like a real-life princess! Like for real. Princess Zaro from some stupid country I can't even pronounce. It's like, smaller than Japan, so that makes me feel better. Turns out the girl is actually royalty, what the heck is she doing all the way over here?

I quickly exit out of everything and glare at the now blank screen.

This girl is like super famous, she's not even that pretty. Even Cyrene recognized Mesmira, meaning she and Vega must have been a very notable couple. Notable enough for Lorelei to want to tease me with it. Notable enough for Dariyah to comment on it. Notable enough that Vega didn't want to tell me her name.

Well, I guess that's what happens when you date an actual princess.

"Emery, leave it alone." Cyrene sings.

"Is that what I should tell Lorelei when she eventually asks me about your extracurricular activities with Asherah," I can't help but snap at her.

She blinks at me in surprise, her eyes wide with shock.

"Like I'd take romance advice from you," I get up and start to stomp away.

"Whoa, whoa, whoa, what are you talking about?" Cyrene quickly chases me.

"You know exactly what I'm talking about," I roll my eyes.

She pulls me to the side, we hide behind some bookshelves.

"How do you know?" she whispers.

"I saw you!" I whisper back.

"When!?" she hisses.

"It's happened more than once!?"

"Shh!"

"I was going to go talk to Asherah and I heard you two yelling at each other, after the whole police thing. When I went to go break it up, you two... kissed. Then I got the heck out of there." I say.
