"Not that I'm not thrilled in your sudden interest to finally get some training done, but why are you suddenly pumped to do training?" Cyrene asks me.
"I'm trying to concentrate." I focus on making a glyph appear.
"Does this have anything to do with Dr. Ross?"
The glyph flickers and disappears. I sigh.
"She told me you were having some reservations about the whole mind-reading thing," she says.
"I said I changed my mind, I don't want her in my head." I turn to Cyrene.
"Why?"
"Does there need to be a reason? I wouldn't want anyone in my head either," Lorelei walks into the training gym and over to us.
"But it could help us get to the bottom of what's happening with you." Cyrene points out.
"I have other things to worry about, that has moved to the bottom of the list." I go back to trying to make a glyph.
Cyrene opens her mouth to protest but Lorelei cuts her off with a kiss, "Leave her be. Let her work on one thing at a time."
Cyrene sighs.
The glyph flickers and dissipates again. I eye Lorelei out of the corner of my eye. I haven't forgotten what I saw at that dance, I'm sure it was her. Well, 50% sure, but that's still pretty sure! What is she up to? Is she behind what happened to me? Or is it completely unrelated?
"Focus your energy, remember you must think of intent first," Lorelei instructs me.
I go back to concentrating.
It's hard to make a Glyph, I have to basically clear my mind completely and focus on one thing, channel my energy into doing what I want. But how can I clear my mind when I have so many things nagging at me?
Apparently, I'm at an elementary level of magic, closer to the middle schooler range. Which is impressive if I do say so myself, considering regular casters take years to get to where I'm at, and I've managed to do it in a few months. But this is where things get difficult. Turning basic spells into unique ones tailored specifically to me.
For example, a fire caster can turn a simple moving and direction spell into a fireball spell. Shooting fireballs in the direction they want. Since I'm a Star Caster, I have to figure out how to integrate my light magic into simple spells to turn them into something else.
Apparently, Cyrene struggled with this too when she was growing up. It's not so easy integrating light magic into things. Go figure.
Right now I'm trying to turn my moving spell into a teleportation spell. Where I can teleport objects wherever I want them to go. Which sounds easy in theory, considering I technically already do that to myself subconsciously, but it's actually very hard when I have to do it to other objects.
Also, I technically never really learned the teleportation spell, I just started doing it, which is also weird. Doing is subconsciously I might add with no Glyph or incantation, but Cyrene says that's pretty normal for teleporters like Shadow Casters.
Finally, I get a Glyph to appear, it looks different from what I thought it was going to look like, but then again it's supposed to look different so maybe I'm doing it right. Now to make the object disappear.
Today's casualty is a pillow, ever since I accidentally flung a glass bottle at Cyrene we've been working with plastic and soft items.
The pillow disappears.
But never reappears.
"Uh... where'd it go?" I ask.
Cyrene sighs and walks over to the pillow. She picks up nothing and chunks it at me, I'm hit with a pillow, but it's invisible now.
