"If you have something to say to me, then say it. Glaring at me won't solve anything," Dr. Ross says.
I curl my fingers into my palms, my nails digging into my skin. I know I should leave it alone, it has nothing to do with me, but knowing that this woman hurt Vega, left her a scar that will affect the rest of her life, really ticks me off.
"It's nothing," I look down at the ground.
"Well, I'll be in your head shortly, so I'll find out one way or another."
"I changed my mind; I don't want you in my head after all," I say without looking at her.
"Hmm," she folds her arms on top of her desk.
I look up at her then, her lips pressed into a thin line, her deep blue eyes needling into me.
"Why the sudden change of heart?"
I shrug.
"Does it have something to do with Vega?"
I look away again.
"I see."
We are silent for a moment.
"Perhaps if I talked to Vega—"
"No!" I snap at her. "Stay away from her." I glare at her.
She smirks.
She found out what she wanted without me even having to say anything. She's really good at manipulating the situation to get what she wants. It's easy to tell she's been doing this for years.
"You are a horrible mother, stay away from Vega." I stand up to leave.
"Not so fast Emery," she stops me.
I turn to her.
"I was brought here for you specifically, whether you like it or not, we are stuck with each other. Also, you signed that document, giving me full permission to do what I need in order to get to the bottom of things."
"I said I changed my mind." I snap at her.
"A little late for that, don't you think?" she stands, her eyes glowing pink.
I back up towards the wall.
"All I ever did was teach my daughter what she needed to know to be the best at what she does. Until me, no Psy Caster had ever been able to use their powers without casting a spell. I am changing history. Is it a crime for a mother to want her daughter to be the best she can be?" she walks towards me.
"You took it too far! You abused her!"
"Says who? Did she say that? Perhaps I should go into your mind and clear some things up for you. Maybe rearrange a few things while I'm in there. Make it so you forget all about Vega." She threatens.
"That's illegal!"
"Only you and I will ever know it happened, soon only me." she closes in on me.
The lights flicker as my whole body gets on guard.
"You should really watch who you pick fights with little girl. You may be big and powerful one day, but that day is not today or tomorrow, or even the day after that. You're just a dumb kid in over her head, jumping to conclusions before she's even heard the whole story. There are always two parts to a story, and until you've heard mine, you have no right to judge me." she's so close now her chest presses into mine, I turn my head and try my hardest to sink into the wall.
My hands start to glow and my heart starts to race in fear.
"Now you have two options here," she whispers in my ear. "We can pretend this whole thing never happened and move on with our professional relationship and leave my daughter out of it. Or..."
