"Your actions have consequences. As you are well aware this was your last chance. I'm afraid this establishment is not a good fit for you." Asherah says to Dariyah.
Her dad and her stepmom are sitting in on this.
Her dad sighs in disappointment.
We all had to go in and explain what happened.
"It's not her fault!" I quickly defend her.
Asherah turns to me with an unconvinced expression.
"It's not! They attacked us first! She tried to walk away and they chased us!"
"They did!" Darko quickly says.
Dariyah has her jaw clenched, staring at the ground, not making a single peep. She's still fuming.
"It's true. We only went out to get gifts for everyone. For our Christmas party." Nerissa says.
Her parents are also here. Apparently, she's never gotten in trouble before so it's a big deal or something.
"You can't expel her! She was just protecting me." I plead.
Dariyah does look up then, at me, with an unreadable expression.
"Be that as it may, she still went out, again, without permission," Asherah says.
"What if I recant my accusation against her. I said she was using her powers on people when we first met, and that's why I approached her. But that wasn't true! She was just minding her own business."
"So you lied?" Asherah raises an eyebrow.
Cyrene sighs, she's standing by the door.
"Before you say yes, know that admitting to this will get you into a lot of trouble." She says.
"I lied. I recant my statement. Dariyah is innocent. Therefore, she still has one chance left, right?"
Dariyah looks at Asherah in hope.
Asherah takes a deep and heavy breath.
"Right!?" I push.
"Emery," Asherah says.
"No!" the lights flicker. "This is total bullshit!" I shout.
Nerissa's parents blink at me in surprise.
"This wasn't her fault! You can't expel her when it had nothing to do with her! People attacked us! We were just defending ourselves."
"Please, headmaster, don't do this." Gunner pleads.
"On one condition," Asherah says.
We all look at her in hope.
"She has to get counseling for her impulsive behavior. Considering her mother is the best counselor around, I don't think it will be a problem."
"Not with me," Dr. Ross clips, shaking her head at Dariyah.
Before I can protest Dariyah says, "I'll do it."
I turn to her in worry.
"Then consider this your final warning miss Ross. One more incident and you are out that door, am I clear?" Asherah says sternly.
"Crystal." Dariyah says, seriously.
"As for you, Miss Ellison," Asherah says.
Uh oh, she's calling me by my last name. I must be in big trouble now. Sigh, I guess it was worth it. Sort of.
"Since you admitted to lying to me and the council you will be punished. A false accusation is not to be taken lightly."
I nod, ready to face my punishment.
