Velda sat with her friends in the shade of an old beech tree, as she stared out at the black lake, following their conversations.

Chester let out a sorrowful sigh, probably because of the two Hufflepuff's that were interrupting his peace.

"Have I ever mentioned that I don't believe in faith, Ada?" stated Meadow as she stared at the other girl that was trying to read her future out of her palms.

Velda leaned back against the tree trunk as she grinned at Meadow's expression. Meadow Smith was a muggleborn just like her. Also just as curious and tenacious as her but there was a slight difference between them.

They had known each other for years. In fact, they had grown up in the same small village and had went into the same school even before Hogwarts.

But while Velda was more like the calculating revenge as soon as someone did something wrong and then striking with fists that led to broken noses type, Meadow was more of an alright, see if they might be actually good people so we can befriend them and if not let's punch them in the nose type.

That is probably while they got along so well with each other. Velda showed Meadow that not every person was good and that she should keep herself as her priority while Meadow made sure that Velda wouldn't immediately judge anyone who had wronged her and kept her constant stating of her own opinions, when no one asked, to herself.

Velda truly appreciated all of her friends but she was always closest to Meadow. It has always been Velda and Meadow, Meadow and Velda. She didn't knew why exactly, maybe it was because they had known each other for such a long time.

"It seems like you'll be facing some troubles soon Meddie. Be careful, maybe you should keep your cat in your dorm at night", Ada had stopped staring at Meadow's hand and was now brushing her fingers over it in a comforting motion.

Meadow glanced at Velda with a confused grin "I don't have a cat Ada."

"Oh, I'm not saying that you own the cat."

This only confused Velda even more but when she turned to Meadow, she saw that the girl send Ada a rather terrified glance.

Velda choose to ignore the expression and turned back to Ada, "Have you ever heard of The Presentism philosophy of time theory?"

Ada visibly straightened up at the thought of expanding her knowledge of conspiracy theories, "No, I haven't."

"It implies that the only things that really exist are those happening right this minute. So, neither the future nor the past really exist. That means that Meadow wouldn'have to worry about what she's going to do but focus on what she's doing now. "
