Velda didn't know what to feel. It's been two days ever since the incident at the library. She had never been a person who would random people and make out with them, she had done it once and it wasn't the best experience, after she had simply been disgusted at herself. She didn't care if other people did it, it was none of her business but it was not for her. She felt confused by his actions or was it her who indicated the kiss? That's the thing, she didn't even know how she would've gotten in such situation. The only thing she remembered was that addicting taste of black coffee and the pain in her hand after she had punched the bookshelf behind her in frustration.
He probably didn't even remember because unlike her, Regulus Black was known as quite the heartbreaker, following the footsteps of his brother who had finally- much to the dismay of Hogwarts female population- settled for good.
Velda wasn't willing to fall into Black's trap and end up as one of his heartbroken lady friends. She knew that she had more dignity than that. Her uncle had raised her to be a strong woman and she wouldn't let him down, not again.
She felt more angry than ever at Regulus Black. She was angered by his careless move, he had known that she had not been in the right state of mind. The anger of the encounter in potions class, the stress of hurrying to not be too late and the frustration of not finding the fitting book had made her mind a mess and her actions a mistake. Regulus Black had used her and was ready to make his life a living hell. By all means, she was more familiar with anger than with love, she was used to the bubbling cauldron filled with rage, but by now it was ready to spill over.
The only problem was that it was already past midnight and sleep wasn't any option. She hadn't really been getting any sleep these past two nights, her mind was too irritated by all the anger and her head wouldn't stop the rapid flow of thoughts.
Velda sighed as she pushed her sheets off her body and slipped a warm jumper over her head. Grabbing a notebook and a quill, she quietly stepped out of her dorm, careful not to wake her roommates. Whenever she felt the need to clear her head, she'd write down all of her thoughts, not organized but just the way they came up in her head.
As she stepped into the common room, she noticed the warming flames of the fireplace but as inviting as they looked, Velda felt trapped inside the blue and bronze walls of the tower, she needed freedom.
Therefore she stepped out of the common room and up to the Astronomy tower, she had always been glad that it was so near, she couldn't imagine where she'd find a more calming place than this if she would've been placed in Hufflepuff or Slytherin if she wouldn't want to run a marathon.
The cold air was a welcoming feeling as she pushed the doors open and quietly stepped onto the tower, past the Astronomy room. She leaned her back on a wall in a corner, so she could look up at the stars. For some reason she had never been scared of darkness like others, she had always found comfort in the dark. A candle provided a bit of light, mixed with the soft glimmer of the stars and the crescent moon.
The minutes past like a blur, she was so busy with her notes that she didn't even noticed a raven landing on the railing but it seemed like neither did the animal. Sitting on the opposites of the tower, there was no way that either of them could've noticed the other without looking closely.
But suddenly, Velda's silence was disturbed as she heard the door to the Astronomy tower open, hastily she shut her notebook and pushed herself into the corner, hoping that the intruder wouldn't see her. Her eyes were fixed on the other side, only now noticing the small raven on the railing.
She waited for the sound of footsteps but they never came, instead she let out a relieved sight as she noticed a black cat making it's way towards the railing where the raven was.
Velda furrowed her brows at the sight, it was a strange thing to see the cat and raven staring at each other as if they could communicate.
But then, much to her horror, she watched as the animals transformed into human figures at the same time. Now clenching her notebook, she tried to sink into the shadows of the wall. Velda couldn't make out the figures, the room only provided enough light to see their silhouettes.
She watched with her heart beating fast as ever as they embraced each other like close friends. As they leaned back the former raven spoke, "I'm sorry that I couldn't meet up last week but I've been busy as ever with school work."
"Don't worry," the former cat laughed, "So was I. I've heard all about your recent meetings, seems like you've been quite the pain in the arse, if you ask me."
"I am not," grumbled the other, "If she's to dumb to understand my humour."
"She's not dumb, you're simply treating her like shit, she only gives back what she receives."
Velda's mouth was wide open as she gaped at the silhouettes. The bubbling cauldron of rage was definitely exploding as she listened to the very familiar voices.
Never in her whole life would she have believed to witness such conversation.
And it had been a long time since she had ever felt so betrayed by a person as she listened to the voices of non other than Meadow Smith and Regulus Black, talking to each other as if they'd been best friends for their whole lives .
