"Mirabel?" You said, a mix of concern and confusion in your voice. You and Camilo glanced at each other, until seeing the faint glow of green fall upon Mirabel's face. She turned to the two of you, an expression full of worry, but also pride. "Someone's going to steal the candle."

--

Camilo's eyes flashed with disbelief. "What do you mean 'someone's going to steal the candle', Mirabel?"

Mirabel lightly brushed the green panel with her fingers before flipping it around to face us. It revealed a pair of hands, reaching for the candle on the open window sill.

"Look!" She said excitedly, like she had finally found some purpose. "This must be why I saw the cracks, why I saw the candle burning out!" She paced around the room, trying to put the pieces together in her head.

"Mirabel... this is huge. For all of us," Camilo emphasized. "Don't you think we should tell the others?" Although trying to hide it, you could feel the light, consistent tapping of his finger on the hardwood floor. He was nervous.

"Camilo, no. You know how that's going to go," Mirabel replied. "Abuela will put us in lockdown, we'll get nowhere, and all there will be is panic!" She uttered a yell in a whisper.

"This is why I wanted to tell Y/N, she's a newcomer and has no background ties to the family." Mirabel added, pacing at a much faster rate than before. "You asked to jump in, so listen to me." She froze, locking his gaze.

Camilo looked as if he wanted to say something, but backed down. Instead of trying to retort, he slowly nodded his head, agreeing with her. That's new.

"Mirabel," you jumped in, "what do you need us to do?"

"Well," Mirabel said, taking a deep breath in, "we need to start investigating, obviously. Who could do this? Who's in this vision?"

Camilo raised an eyebrow. "What are we, undercover spies?"

"Camilo!" She immediately responded. Camilo put his hands up in defeat. She continued, "Yes. Precisely that."

A couple chuckles circulated around the room, following a few moments of silence.

Everyone was trying to process the information being given, until Mirabel broke the unsteady weight.

"Alright, let's roll out, uh-" Mirabel hesitated, "Candle... hunters!" She put her hand to her temple.

"Wait, now?" You and Camilo said in unison. Mirabel flashed you both an eager look.

"We have no time to waste!" She said, jogging over to the window, inching it open. "We'll split up around the town."

And so, there you were, Camilo and Mirabel on your side, treading the roof tiles of the Casa Madrigal.
