On the docks of Jaya's Mock Town had a caravel class ship with a jib and a central steer rudder, called the Going Merry. The ship's armaments consisted of four cannons, one in the bow pointing forward, one in the stern, and two pointing to either side. They were rarely used, as the Straw Hat Pirates usually preferred to run away or engage in hand to hand combat. After the Arlong Park incident, the Going Merry gained three tangerine trees from Bell-mère's orchard, a memento of Nami's, the navigator, home. As the crew traveled through the first half of the Grand Line, the ship received more and more damage and gained several metal patches to hold her together at places that could not be nailed back together: prominent examples are Merry's figurehead and the mast, which was torn off several times. Several spots of the guardrail were damaged and missing, leading the crew to patch them up with wood-boards, which was done rather crudely due to their lack of experience in carpentry. It was where a slim tan-skinned teenager with medium-length black woolly hair, prominent lips and a long nose, which is apparently an allusion to Pinocchio, that was away hammer planks. The teenagers, Usopp was the sniper of the Straw Hat Pirates. He is the fourth member of the crew and the third to join after Syrup Village. "Plank." His hand had been held out.
"Right!" Which was where a toddler-sized human/reindeer hybrid stood on two legs, this was because of his Devil Fruit abilities allow him to change his appearance depending on the situation. His left antler is braced at the base by a metal plate when he was younger. He was Tony Tony Chopper, also known as the doctor of the Straw Hat Pirates. He was the sixth to join the crew after the crew left Drum Island. The doctor had handed a plank that he picked up over to him.
"Nail." Usopp then asked for after placing the plank up against the Merry.
"Right!" And a bucket of nails had been held up, so the long nose took one had began to hammer away.
"Plank." Before moving onto the next plank
"Right!" That Chopper handed over again but...
"Pain!" That had been cried after Usopp slammed down the hammer onto his finger that was holding the nail.
"Right!" But it seemed that Chopper misheard and handed another plank. "Right..." Then soon came to notice Usopp's red index finger.
"Jeez... I keep yelling 'em over and over. I ain't a ship wright." But even so he continued to hammer away. 
"But you're so resourceful, Usopp!" Chopper had told him with complete honesty.
"Ain't I?" And Usopp turned with a giant grin on his face hearing that. "It's my greatest asset!"
"We might as well just buy a new one." Above them on the ship stood a slim, yet muscular, long-legged man with blond hair which he keeps brushed over he left side of his face. His right eyebrow forms a spiral at the outer end, curling in a clockwise direction. He was the cook of the Straw Hat Pirates and the fifth member to join after leaving the Baratie, called Sanji.
"BULLSHIT!" Usopp screamed up at him. "DO YOU KNOW WHAT WE WENT THROUGH TO GET THIS SHIP!?" He seemed quite unhappy.
"Yeah, yeah, yeah!You've told me a hundred times." But since Sanji hadn't been there. "A pretty girl in your village gave it to you, right?" He heard about it none stop, so much that it annoyed him. "But it's gonna be dangerous if we sail like those for much longer."
"That's why I'm repairing her!" The sniper, not a shipwright, snapped back at him.
"Repairs? This?" But no matter how one looks at it, this wasn't repairs at all. "It's just patchwork."
"SHADDAP!" Usopp was posed similar to a seahorse.
"Hey, that was funny, Usopp!" Which had caused Chopper to be amused.
"What, this?" And it had the long nose switching sides of the pose. "SHADDAP~!" Which had caused the reindeer to burst into tears of laughter.
"Oh yeah, what do you want for dinner-" Sanji had began to ask them upon changing the topic.
"SHADDAP!" But he had been interrupted as both Usopp and Chopper had done the same pose.
"Guess you don't want any." He seemed to have been annoyed. "I'll make some seagull stomach soup." And he walked away speaking to himself.
"We want it! We want it! Sanji!" But it had been why Usopp was crying out to him.
"Please let us have some! Sanji!" Along with Chopper.
"I wonder if they'll like that." But it seemed the cook was completely ignoring the pair and about to enter the door that would lead into the kitchen on the aft deck. However, that was before he came to notice an incoming ship that looked weird to him.
"Salvage~! Sal~va~ge!" A large group of people from that ship were singing, having both Usopp and Chopper hearing it. "Salvage~! Sal~va~ge!" The singing were familiar to the pair.
"What ship is that?" However, Sanji didn't know at all and only asked as the other two were gloomy blue in the face.
