Sanji was away in the kitchen with Pagaya, learning all there was to know about Skypiea's food. "THEN DON'T LEAVE IT LYING AROUND!" On the other hand, the rest were all sitting in the lounge area listening to cooks shouting and crashing. "I ate a whole spoonful of that stuff!"
"It sounds like he's having fun." Luffy came to say listening in.
"He's overjoyed at seeing the rare sky cuisine." Usopp was shrugging next to him smirking.
"Are they stupid?" Andrew asked looking at them blankly, as the rest of the crew were sitting down on the cloud couch.
"Even though we've just gotten here, Miss... will you tell us more about those Dials you mentioned before?" Robin changed the topic as the looking over to Conis, who was in the door frame of the balcony.
"Of course." She didn't seem to have any issues with explaining it to them. "Let's see... how should I explain?" Although, the only problem was with how to do so. Then she spotted something that she began walking over to.
"Ahh... What a nice, cushiony chair." Chopper seemed to be in bless.
"What's this?" The captain had been given a shell by Conis "You have seashells here?" He ended up asking her.
"Yes, please try saying something into it." That had been instructed.
"Yosh!" Without a second thought, he brought it close to his mouth. "Usopp's a dork!" He ended up loading saying.
"Why, why, why did you say that?" Usopp was shocked while asking as Conis chuckled.
"Now they pressing the apex of the shell." She then moved onto telling him.
"What's an apex?" However, Luffy had no idea what she was talking about as he was looking down at the shell.
"The top of the shell!" The one that pushed it had been Usopp.
"Usopp's a dork!" Luffy's voice had repeated from the shell.
"AH! THE SHELL'S MAKING FUN OF USOPP!" Needless to say that the Captain had no idea what was happening.
"Why, why, why did you say that?" Even Usopp's voice had come out as well.
"And in your voice!" And the snipper was in the same boat.
"Now they pressing the apex of the shell." After Conis' voice came from it, the voices stopped.
"Hey, that's really something." Zoro appeared to be impressed by this, since none of them came across something like this before.
"That seashell is a Dial?" Robin asked.
"Yes, this is a Tone Dial. It is able to record and replay sound." The answer to the question had been explained. "It is one of the shells of the White-White Sea."
"Hey, I thought this sea had no bottom." Andrea brought this up, since Usopp had fallen out of the clouds and began falling back down to the Blue Sea when they first come.
"If that's the case, where do they come from?" Andrew followed that with a question.
"On the resets in the shallows." Had been the answer.
"But I don't see how that could move the Waver." This point had been noted by the archaeologist.
"Yes, the propulsion of the Waver is this." But Conis had already picked up a never Dial, that was a bit different then the one she had before. "This one isn't very large, but the principle is the same as the Tone Dial." She come to explained lifting it up towards a wind chime hanging. She pushed the apex and the chime began ringing as the shell was blowing air.
"So wind comes out of that one!" The guys seemed impressed watching.
"Lemme see!" It had been handed over to Luffy.
"This is a Breath Dial. It sucks in wind and releases it freely." While Conis explain, the captain was winding up his arm with the Dial in hand, then pushed the apex and wind much stronger then before was blowing in his face. "The capacity varies depending on the size, but by putting this on the aft of a ship, it can move light ships."
"And that's the Waver."
"I get it. So it was blowing air out to keep it moving." It appeared that Usopp understood that much.
"That Waver's neat!" However, it was unsure if Luffy did.
"There are actually others as well." Conis stated this to them, which had pecked their interest. "Skate types and board types. But the Waver is the only one I can handle."
"Do you have those two here!?" Before anyone knew it, Andrea was right before the girl, her eyes sparkling with excitement.
"U-Umm, we do." This caused the girl to be a but stun.
"I wanna try! I wanna try!" The woman had gotten right in her face, completely overwhelmed with excitement.
"Enough." Until Andrew grabbed her by the hoodie, pulling her back. "Sorry about that." He was looking to Conis as he spoke.
"I-It's fine. If you want, you can have them. My father and I can't use them." Out of nowhere her face had turned light pink before saying that as she turned her head.
"I wanna ride!" Luffy still appeared focus on the Waver. "She's so lucky! And we have one too!" This statement caught Conis' attention as she turned to Usopp.
"You have a Waver?" She came to ask him.
"Yeah, mostly by accident. We picked up an old beat-up one." He explained this to her. "But after 200 years, it probably wouldn't move." But then added that at the end.
"Well, that might not be the case." Luffy had stopped pouting to turn around towards Conis who said that. "Dials are made fro the remains of shellfish. As long as the shell isn't broken, they will remain functional practically forever." She explained.
"Hear that?" This had the captain all excited.
"But you still can't right it." Only for the snipper to hit a bullseye.
"I can wish..." causing the Strawhat to get depressed.
"I bet there are other kinds as well." Robin spoken up, changing to topic slightly. "Is this one too?" She pointed to the shell located on the coffee table in front of her.
"Yes, that is a Lamp Dial." Which had Conic walking over to it, pressing the top causing light to appear from inside.
"Oh, the shell's shining!" Chopper seemed to have liked this as he looked closely.
"There is also one which stores fire, the Flame Dial. And one which stores smells and aromas, the Flavour Dial. And still another which reflects images, the Vision Dial. There are many different kinds." She had continued naming off Dials for the crew.
"That's so cool... That's so cool!" It caused Chopper to cry due to overwhelming excitement.
"They are an integral part of our livelihood in the sky." This part had been added. It means that they were use everyday by everyone.
"I see."
"So, Sky Island's culture... has evolved with the Dial' energy." Conis seemed to have been slightly amused as she spoke, since she spotted Zoro sleeping away. A little while later, Sanji and Pagaya had brought out a feast from the kitchen.
"Alright, it's ready! Full-Course Sky Island Special Catch with Fruit!"
"Looks great!"
"Cool!" They had began digging into the food without the slightest bit of hesitation. As they were enjoying the food, Sanji had stepped out for a bit to light a cigarette.
"Oi!" Then he called out to the others after looking out to the White-White Sea. "Where did Nami-san go?" He asked them, since he wasn't able to see the Waver out on the sea.
"She's there in the sea." However, no one seemed to think he was asking why she hadn't joined them yet.
"No, she's not." Until he turned around and told them.
"Then she probably went out exploring. She can handle herself." But no one seemed all that worried about the girl.
"Father, will she be okay?" All but Conis, as she turned to her father asking.
"Yes, Conis-san... I also feel a bit unsettled." He seemed to also be worried.
"What? What's wrong?" Luffy couldn't understand why they felt that way.
"Here is Skypiea, there is a place where you must never, ever set foot no matter the circumstances." Conis had began explaining this to them. "That place is adjacent to this island and could easily be reached with the Waver."
"What do you mean 'never set foot on'?" Andrea seemed interested as this sounded familiar to both her and her brother, who looked to her.
"It is sacred ground." The question had been answered but it only caused more.
"Sacred ground?" Robin repeated confused.
"We call that land... The Land Where God Resides, Upper Yard." They had no idea that it was far too late for them worry about this.
