High school. I hate it. There is just one thing that is getting me through it. Cheerleading. Brad, my boyfriend, doesn't know about it yet. All the practises are quite private and he's never at any of the events we go to. So he has never seen me do it and he doesn't even know that I am a cheerleader.

I don't want him to know because I don't want him thinking that I'm one of those people - the stereotypical cheerleaders off tv.

I just can't find the right time to tell him. I've made up loads of lies and excuses trying to get out of seeing Brad when the practises are on. I don't know how he will react.

Will he dump me because of the lies?

I'm on my way!

It didn't take him long to get to my house and when I opened the door he was out of breath and looked worried. He stepped inside and turned to me.

"What's wrong? Are you ok? Are you dumping me?" He asked so many questions, too many for my brain to process.

After about two minutes of him constantly asking questions I interrupted him.

"Just shhh a minute. I've not exactly been honest with you." I said.

"Why what's happened? What have you done?" He asked. Again.

"You know when I said I've been ill and I've been to a lot of my aunties and uncles birthday parties instead of meeting up with you? They were all excuses because I didn't want you knowing the truth." I replied.

"What's the truth? Are you dying?" He questioned.

"Enough with the questions! I've been going to cheerleading practises, events and competitions. I didn't want you to know because I didn't know how you would react and I didn't want you thinking that I'm like one of those cheerleaders off the TV." I said.

It took him a while to figure everything out.

"Mae, don't worry I think it's cute being a cheerleader. When will I get to see you in your uniform?" He said.

I just rolled my eyes.

"My girlfriend is a cheerleader!!" He shouted throughout the house in a happy, excited way.
