It was a beautiful summers day, a great day for a barbecue. Brad had invited all of his family and some of his close friends round to his house for a little get together and celebration kind of thing. He was the chef, constantly fixed to the barbecue making sure that the burgers and sausages weren't burning.

Me and Brad are just friends, nothing more, nothing less. I was wearing denim shorts with a loose, lace crop top and kimono over the top. I was dressed for summer. I can't wait to be abroad, on holiday, getting a tan.

I went into the kitchen and surprisingly Brad left his post at the barbecue. I was shocked. He came up behind me and startled me as I filled a cup up with water.

"Hey, you alright. I feel like it's been so long since I spoke to you." He said in soft voice.

"We met up last week and I was texting you last night - that's a long time isn't it." I replied.

"Ohh shut up, I was just trying to be nice." He replied.

He took the glass out of my hands and placed it on the worktop at the side before he stepped closer. He was centimetres away from me and I could feel his warm breath on my face. He got closer and closer...

"You're sausages are nearly done." Connor said disturbing the two of us.

He stepped back.

"You look beautiful by the way." He said before turning to go to the garden.

When he reached the door he turned around and winked before heading over to his barbecue. I leant with my back against the worktop smiling at him.

"He's quite the cook." Anne, Brad's mum, said startling me.

"Yeah, yeah." I replied politely.

"Are you going to tell me what's going on between the two of you or am I going to have to force it out of you?" She asked.

"I don't know what you're talking about." I replied.

"Morwenna, it's so obvious. He likes you, you like him. Admit it, you were about to kiss before Connor interrupted you." She said.

I was lost for words.

"And I've seen the way he squeezes your bum. You've got to be more than friends." She said before walking away.

I didn't think anyone noticed that. And Brad's mum is the one to tell me that she's seen us together like that. Oh no!

I joined Brad outside and he was really protective of me until the end when everyone left, he asked me if we could go out on a date together...
