It was my beautiful girlfriends birthday today. Well it had been her birthday for a minute considering it was 12:01 am. She was sleeping silently next to me. I put my hand up her top and started rubbing small circles along her ribs. She woke up from the touch.

"Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you." I sang quietly.

"Thanks, but it's a bit early for this, wake me up later." She replied.

I wrapped my arm around her waist and pulled her close as we both drifted to sleep. I had a weird dream, but I'll save that for a later time.

I woke again at 9:36 am which is a much better time to wake someone up on the birthday, however, this time I was going to do it differently. I got up and put a hoodie on to cover my bare chest and I already had some shorts on. I made my way downstairs, into the kitchen.

I made toast, eggs, bacon, sausages, pancakes and waffles for the birthday girl and also made a cup of coffee and got a glass of orange juice too. I put it all on a tray with a few flowers and took it upstairs to her. I went into the bedroom and placed the tray really close to her hoping that the smell would wake her. Luckily, it did.

She woke up and started eating her breakfast in bed.

"Happy birthday." I said as I gave her a kiss on her forehead.

"Thanks." She replied.

She ate the breakfast I made and I finished the rest off that she didn't want.

"You know, you're not that bad of a cook." She said smiling up at me.

I pushed her out of bed but she stood up just in time before she could fall. I slapped her bum and told her to hurry up and get dressed because we had plans.

She came downstairs after what felt like forever waiting. She looked amazing, my little princess.

"Where are we going?" She asked.

"It's a surprise." I said.

We got in my car and we drove off to a place that I had never been before. We pulled up outside and it was hard to tell what it was.

"Where are we?" She asked.

"Shhh and follow me." I said.

I took hold of her hand and led her into the small building.

Her eyes widened.

"Omg they're so cute." She said as we looked around at the really cute puppies.

"Happy birthday." I said.

We found the puppy that was right for us, signed a few papers and spent lots of money in the local shop on a lead, collars, little coats and treats. It all seemed worth it to see the perfect little smile on Khadija's face.
