Wraith's POV

I groaned and sat up, rubbing my head.

I opened my eyes- Desert!? Why am I surrounded by sand!?

I saw something else stand out in the sand and ran over. It was a guy with black bands on his arms and no shoes.

Which was beside the point. Because obviously there are no deserts in Metropolis and I haven't heard of them anywhere near there either.

I poked the guy in his cheek and he groaned, saying something in another language.

"Ok, unconscious guy. I'm kind of curious, please wake up." I said, poking him harder.

Sweat ran down his head and I sighed, standing back up and looking around.

The landscape was barren, other than a few rocks here and there.

The guy was hot to the touch, especially with those black bands and his dark colored suit. I pulled off my cloak and laid it over him as protection from the sun. He needed it more than me.

Suddenly, there was the sound of wheels and men. I ran up to a close boulder and peeked over, where three tanks were incoming. Quickly.

I bit my lip. This wasn't good. With my luck, those people were probably trying to kill me.

I turned around and snapped again, covering the weird guy and I in a blanket of invisibility. Then I grabbed his arms and started to drag him away.

The tanks came closer and I knelt down, keeping quiet.

"Remember, the Queen wants them all alive. They've already captured the clone. No doubt Aqualad won't survive long after what happened." One of them told the others.

Aqualad? I looked down and immediately recognized him. Right! This is Aqualad!

What was Aqualad doing in the desert with me? Being chased by soliders?

Oh, and I have a grappling hook on my belt. Very cool.

"Sir? Heat vision is picking up two lifeforms not far!" One of them shouted just as the tanks began to get far away.

Oh crud.

They turned toward us and I snapped again, making an illusion of dark thunderstorm clouds, growing quickly in size. Lightning crackled silently far above them.

"What is this sorcerey?" Someone said.

"Who cares!? Attack!"

I grabbed Aqualad from underneath his shoulder and put him on my back, running as quickly as I could while filling the entire area with monsters and bugs and anything to distract them from our heat signatures.

Shots fired at our feet and I slipped, tumbling down a hill and losing hold of Aqualad.

We landed at the bottom roughly and I looked over.

There was a groan and Aqualad sat up, rubbing his head.

"Hect ka dorsey manu pulya natto?" He asked me.

"Sorry, I speak English only." I told him.

"English? Oh! We- we're- The surface world!?" He stammered, standing up.

Then he groaned, "Why is it so hot?"

I looked around and saw my white cloak laying on the ground.

"Here, take this. White repels heat. Black absorbs." I told him.

"Thank you. Where are we? How did we get here?" He asked.

"I don't know." I told him.

He raised an eyebrow, "You don't know?"
