Chapter 23: Sacrifice

I have been waiting so long to do this chapter.

Kaldur's POV

"Red Tornado to cave, I fear that I am the only living Leaguer left. You must-"

He was cut off as a beam struck and killed him.

We looked up at the surveillance footages gravely.

"We are Earth's heroes now." I told everyone.

"So what are we waiting for? A theme song?" Superboy demanded

"A strategy." I replied.

"The League attacked the aliens head on and lost. If we do the same, then we will fall to the same demise as them." Robin said.

"Besides, we have music and clips. It's shorter and less annoying than theme songs." Wraith told everyone.

"Not the time to break the fourth wall, Wraith." Artemis glared at her.

Wraith shrugged.

"Checking satellite imagery." Robin told us, pulling up a holomap. "This is where the aliens are now."

They were all clustered around areas with big populations. All except for one.

"This one get lost?" Superboy asked.

"It's at the fortress of solitude." Wraith said, narrowing her eyes.

"He has a fortress of solitude?" Superboy exclaimed.

"It's power source must have attracted the alien's attention." Robin told us.

"We should target this one." I told them. "If it is alone, we may be able to get important information."

"Yeah! Let's hit those ugly aliens with their own mojo!" Kid Flash said.

Artemis elbowed him, "Martian and Kryptonian here."

Wraith facepalmed.

"Not that all aliens are automatically ugly." He stammered as they stared at him.

Our normal stealth suits wouldn't work for this artic mission, but luckily, Batman thinks of everything. He had winter suits for everyone except Miss. Martian.

We took the bioship and easily saw the alien ship.

Artemis distracted it by shooting arrows and it turned it's laser toward her hide out.

I jumped through the ice onto the top of the ship and pushed it away. Superboy and Wolf jumped up next to me.

Robin climbed up, "Hit it here, here, and here." He instructed.

Superboy punched it three times and then started to pull.

The giant laser started beeping and I turned around, just in time to see Wolf jump on Superboy and push him out of the way as a failsafe went off.

Wolf was disintegrated.

"Wolf..." Megan said sadly.

"There was indication of feedback... I'm sorry." Robin said.

"Can't do anything for him now." Superboy said before walking back over.

He grabbed the laser and pulled it the rest of the way off.

"Biointegrating the weapon into the bioship. This might take a few minutes, we'll have to de-camoflauge." She told us.

"We might not have a few minutes." Robin said as two more ships appeared.
