The Eyes

"The eyes are the window to the soul." My professor chuckles after retelling the story of how he met his wife for the hundredth time. I groan as I slump back in my chair and stare up at the ceiling thinking about nothing in particular. Checking my phone, I notice class ended 2 minutes ago. I gather my things and dash out of the door before the professor had the chance to dismiss everyone. As I made my way to the cafeteria, I hoped there was decent food today. As I'm speed walking I crash into something knocking me onto the cold linoleum.
"Watch where the fuck you're going!" I hear a girl screech. I shuffle to my feet and start to apologize to the girl.
"I'm sorry I wasn't paying-" I'm cut off by a hard shove knocking me back down onto the hard floor.
"Who gave you permission to speak to me, brown eyes?!" I stare up at the girl with a disgusted look. Oh great. I recognize this girl now. It was Soomi, she basically ran the school all because her eye color was silver. Her whole family were silver. I stare into her eyes before she scoffs and walks away. I'm pulled up by my best friend Yuri as she helps me brush the dirt off of clothes.
"You know you're not supposed to interact with people like them. They can ruin your life instantly. That is unless you choose to stop hiding." I roll my eyes and give up on food as I head to my next class and wait for it to start. I set my things down on the floor and lay my head on the desk.

We live in a world where a person's worth is determined by eye color. The social ranking was based off of whatever color you were born with, and it also determines your future.
Those with brown eyes were at the very bottom. Those with brown eyes were lower class, typically very poor and could usually be found with the lowest paying jobs.
Next was green eyes. Green was middle class, poor but better off than brown. These types are usually found working in fast food restaurants or minimum wage paying jobs.
Then there was blue. Blue was upper class. Not rich but comfortable. They were usually found working high paying office jobs or some type of community worker such as surgeons, police officers or paramedics.
Next was Silver. Silver was high class. Rich and snobby. Mostly. They were CEOs, business owners, government workers. People with power. They ran everything. Silver made up 90% of the government no matter what country you were in.
Lastly there was purple. Purple was so rare it was almost impossible to ever meet anyone of this social ranking. Purple was the richest and most powerful. Destined to be celebrities in some way shape or form. Some silvers were celebrities but purple just meant you were the richest of the rich and of the highest social standing.

I had never met anyone with purple eyes in my life. Well, no one besides me. I was born with the ultra-rare violet-colored irises despite my entire family being brown. We were very poor. Our house was run down and falling apart, and my mother worked tirelessly every day and night just to keep the lights on. Now usually your eye color was determined before you were born. Browns were born to browns and silvers were born to silvers. If your family was well off, then so were you. It was rare to see anyone born to a different class than their family. I was that rarity.
Despite me supposedly having a rich future I hid my eyes under brown contacts. I'd rather not be known. I didn't need to spend my college life being surrounded by people who only wanted to be friends because I was destined to be filthy rich and famous. I'd rather slip through the cracks in life and cruise until the time came to graduate and move up in the world. Don't get me wrong the thought of being rich was great. I had moved in with Yuri to lessen the load on my mother. I could get my family a house and my mom could stop working and rest and enjoy her life, I could take Yuri on a vacation to America like she's always wanted. I had everything planned out, but for now, I was just a regular girl. I was just Alex.

"Alex!" I snap my head up from my desk as Yuri slaps her books down on the one in front of her.
"What? Why are you so loud?" I hiss.
"You have to see this!" She grabs my wrist and drags me out of the classroom towards a crowd that had formed in the hallway. Girls and guys alike were screaming trying to push their way to the front. I stood there confused until a small path cleared letting the people they were surrounding through. There I caught a glimpse of 7 boys. All with purple eyes.
"Alex! Do you see them! They're purple! Nobody in this college is purple!" I snicker at the thought of everyone getting this excited over a color. Just proves my motives to stay under the radar.

As the boys walk by, I make eye contact with the last one. His black hair was tucked under a snapback, his jacket hung loosely off his body as his hands stayed in his jean pockets. His face was void of any emotion, as if the crowd of screaming people was normal. He smirks as he catches me staring and winks in my direction. I feel my face heat up. Not from blushing. But from anger. Cocky asshole.
I make my way back to the lecture room and to my desk. I hear the crowd draw closer.
"For the love of whoever rules, do NOT be in this class." I pleaded. As if the universe were against me, in walk all 7 boys with a group of girls hot on their trail. I groan and watch as they all crowd into the seats around me. What the fuck? There's like 50 empty seats in here why do they have to sit by me? Yuri turns and looks at me as they all stare at us as if we were the ones with purple.
"Can I help you gentlemen?" I snap at them.
"Yeah actually. You can help by giving me your number." The black-haired male chuckles as if what he said was clever. Yuri stifles a laugh and I shoot her an "I'll kill you" look.
"Not a chance in hell sweetheart." I cross my arms over my chest. He leans in close to my ear and I feel his breath tickle my neck
"That's oppa to you." He whispers and I feel my face heat up again, this time from blushing. He leans back as the professor walks in and before I can retaliate, he begins to speak.
"Alright guys we have 7 new young men here; would you mind introducing yourselves?" He points to them.
"I'm Jin. I'm the oldest and most handsome" The tall one with broad shoulders speaks first.
"I'm Namjoon." He's tall and his dimples are cute.
"I'm Taehyung but you can call me Tae!" He shows his boxy smile and I hear the girl's swoon.
"I'm Jimin!" Never have I seen such an adorable man in my life.
"I'm your hope, J-Hope!" Another male yells earning a smack on the back of the head by the cocky one sitting next to me.
"Tell them your real name, idiot." J-hope rubs the back of his head smiling,
"I'm Hoseok." He introduces again.
"Jungkook." The youngest looking one says quickly avoiding everyone's gaze. Lastly the one next to me stands and introduces himself.
"I'm Yoongi." He looks at me and smirks again as we hear the screams from girls once more.
"Alright calm down everyone. Anyone who is not actively enrolled in my class needs to leave before I call campus security and have you all expelled." Various boos and whines are heard as the crows disperses and leaves. Mr. Chang begins a lesson on biology as I zone out and scroll through social media. As I like a picture on Instagram, I feel a tap on my shoulder. I turn around to see Taehyung smiling at me with his odd square smile. He doesn't seem like a douche like his friend.
"What's your name sexy?" Nope I was wrong. Still a douche. I scoff and turn back around and focus on my phone once more.

I feel a tap on my other shoulder and turn around to see Jin with a soft smile. I swear to God if another one of them says something stupid I'm walking out of class.
"Ignore my friends they're not used to seeing a pretty girl who doesn't seem to have an interest in them. I apologize on their behalf." I let a smile slip. Okay he's not bad, I guess. Class continues and before I realize anything I'm being shaken awake by Yuri.
"Alex classes are done for the day." I rub my eyes and stretch taking in my surroundings. I notice those boys are gone. Thank God, I couldn't stand another minute of them annoying me today. I sigh as I realize I'll be seeing them again tomorrow.
"Come on let's go home." I nod and follow Yuri out of the building and into the school parking lot. As we're walking to her car, I see those guys all leaned against expensive looking vehicles smiling and flirting with the group of girls that surround them. I make eye contact with Yoongi, and he smirks at me once more. I scrunch up my face and climb into the passenger seat of Yuris car. While she's driving, I feel my phone vibrate against my leg. I fish it out of my pocket wondering who could be texting me. My mouth drops open as I open my messages.
