"Yes mom, I'll be there in about 10 minutes. No mom I don't need much stuff it's only for the weekend. Okay, the bus is pulling up to the stop I'll see you in a couple minutes. Okay! I have to hang-up now mom. I love you too." I groan and hang up the phone stepping off of the bus. I'm visiting home this weekend. My mom insisted on me coming to stay for the weekend so I could meet her new neighbor who's taken her on a ton of adventures lately.
I walk in the front door and am instantly hit with a nostalgic feeling. I do miss it here.
"I'm home!" I yell and instantly hear running footsteps from upstairs.
"Eun-Woo!" I yell as the boy throws himself into my arms.
"Alex! I'm so glad you're home, now you can keep mom occupied and get her off my back for a couple days."
"Stop it! You're a teenager now, I'm supposed to watch you like a hawk." My mom smacks the back of his head and then immediately pulls me in for a hug.
"Waaahhh I missed you so much Bora!"
"Eomma, Don't call me that!" I whine.
"Yah! That's the name you were given at birth that's what I'll call you! Just because you prefer your English name your father gave you doesn't mean I have to." She huffs and drags me to the kitchen.
"Bora I can't wait for you to meet the neighbor! She's so nice! She's taken me on so many trips to places I've never even heard of!"
"Is she rich or something?" I mutter while sipping a glass of water.
"Rich is such a pretentious word. We have money yes but that doesn't stop me from enjoying the smaller things in life." I almost spit out my drink when an unknown voice speaks up from the doorway.
"Mi-Sun! This is my daughter, Bora!" I bow and greet the unfamiliar face. Actually, she looks kind of familiar. I stare longer than I should have before realizing she has silver eyes. She giggles bringing me out of my trance.
"Your mother mentioned you're the only one in the family who has purple eyes. Such a rare occurrence to be born with purple and to be born in a non-purple lineage." She smiles warmly at me, and I swear I've seen that smile before.
"Mi-Sun where are the boys?" My mom looks around as if she lost something.
"Jinyoung ran upstairs with Eun-Woo. My oldest will be here for dinner, he's too engrossed in whatever it is he's doing in that room. I figured him coming back to visit me would entail him actually spending time with his family instead of being cooped up in that room."
"Your son is visiting you for the weekend too?" I don't receive an answer, instead I hear both women giggling like teenagers.
"Eomma, you're not trying to set me up with some boy again, are you?" I whine which earns heavier laughs from the two moms.
"He's such a nice boy. He's polite and well-mannered and he's only a year older than you. Oh and he has purple eyes just like you!" Groaning I head upstairs to my room to mentally prepare myself for some stuck-up rich boy trying to win me over just because of my color.
A knock on the door catches my attention.
"Come in."
"Alex, mom said to dress nice for dinner." I groan as he shuts the door leaving me to my misery.
I dig through my duffel bag of packed clothes and find a short black dress. This is about as nice as it's gonna get. I'm not here to make an impression I'm here to spend time with my family. I put on the dress and let my hair down not bothering with makeup, so I don't have to clean my face later on. Checking myself one last time in the mirror I head downstairs and see Eun-Woo and a boy who must be Jinyoung sitting at the bottom of the staircase playing on a switch.
"Eun-Woo come on we need to set up for dinner." I drag the boy by his ear to the dining room and help mom set the table. After about an hour there's a knock at the front door.
"Bora go get the door it's probably Mi-Sun." I nod and let in the neighbor.
"Where is your oldest?" I ask curious.
"He'll be here soon; he takes longer than a woman to get ready." She giggles and goes to hug my mom and they start whispering while staring at me.
"Eomma please I don't need a boyfriend. I'm fine on my own." They stop whispering and look at each other before starting up again.
"Alex can't date him, he's too cool for her." I glare at Eun-Woo who's giggling with Jinyoung. Is this whole house against me or something?! Everyone takes a seat at the dining table leaving an empty seat next me.
"Do we have to sit next to each other?" I groan earning a slap from my mom.
"Be polite they're our guests." A knock on the door signals that the other son is here.
"I'll get it!" Jinyoung jumps up to let the stranger inside and I actually feel a bit nervous.
"Sorry I'm late." What? Why is that voice familiar. I don't look up from my lap until I feel a presence next to me.
"Hi Yoongi! So glad you could join us! This is my daughter Bora that I told you about." Yoongi?! Oh, gods this isn't happening. I realize where I've seen Mi-Suns smile before. I look up and lock eyes with a bored looking Yoongi.
After realizing it's me his expression goes from bored to shocked to a smirk.
"Nice to meet you, Bora." He smirks dragging out my Korean name.
"Yah Min Yoongi, are you stalking me?!" I cross my arms over my chest and lean back in my chair.
"I take it you two know each other already?" Both women look at us confused.
"Unfortunately. Him and his group of delinquent friends transferred to my school." His mom smiles as they start talking. Yoongi and my mom laugh as if I'm not here.
