My eyes bulged wide as I gasped for air. With my mouth slightly open, I roamed my eyes around. Napatakip ako ng bibig nang mapagtanto ko kung nasaan ako.
"Oh, my God. I'm back in the real world," gulantang na bulong ko sa sarili.
I found myself sitting on the bench where I first met the old lady. I'm still wearing the outfit that I wore that day. How?
Was that all a dream?
"Welcome back to your world, dear!"
Napalingon ako sa nagsalita. It's her. She's smiling sweetly at me.
I guess not.
"Well, aren't you happy that you're back in your world?" tanong niya sa akin.
I didn't respond. Bigla kong naalala sina Caleb at Lawrence. I will miss them. A sad smile appeared on my face. I bet there is nobody like them in this world.
Of course I will miss Aaron too. To be honest, I already miss him... so much, that it hurts to just think about him. A flood of tears filled my eyes. I didn't even get to see him on my last day there. The thought of not seeing him again is breaking my heart into pieces.
"I guess you're not. Oh, honey. It's fine." The old lady started to gently rub my back.
"You didn't even let me see him on my last day there!" humihikbing wika ko at umusog palayo sa kaniya. "You're so cruel!"
"Believe it or not, I did that to make it easier for you, dear," aniya.
Umiling-iling ako. "N-No. You just made it harder for me," I said.
"You have to forget about everything that happened there, Gwen." She's staring intently at me. "Your story is about to begin."
"Huh?" kunot-noong sambit ko. What she said made me puzzled.
She creepily smiled at me. "You'll see. Now, wipe your tears." Inabutan niya ako ng panyo. I don't know where she got it, but I still accepted it. I used it to dry my face and blow my nose.
Few seconds later, my cellphone started ringing.
"Someone's calling," she said to me. I don't like the look on her face. It's as if she knows what's going on.
I threw her a suspicious look. Something feels off.
"What are you waiting for? Answer the phone!" aniya.
Kunot-noong kinuha ko na sa aking bulsa ang aking cellphone. An unknown number is calling. I cleared my throat and took a deep breath. I think it could be one of the companies I am applying to.
