Edmund was greeted by two tall and muscly talmerain solders when he got the edge of the forest.

"We have come to see Miraz. I have a proposal that he will want to here." Edmund announced to the two talmerains in front of him.

One of them looked at the young boy and raised a brow, he then looked at the soldier besides him. The man on the right nodded in approval.

"Follow me." he said. The talmerain was about to turn around, but he seemed to remember something. "Only one beast may accompany you."

Edmund nodded at the centaur, the majestic beat bowed. They both walked off into the forest following Miraz's goons.

Edmund and the centaur finally walked into Miraz's camp, tents sat everywhere and solders walked around like bee's in a large hive. Edmund was overwhelmed by the numbers Miraz possessed, it was definitely far more than they had, but he wouldn't lose hope.

The two solders that they met at the front, guided them into a large, open tent. Miraz sat in the middle, he was surrounded by his loyal advisers.

"Ahh, just the person I've been wanting to see." Miraz exclaimed, the smirk on his face made him see very suspicious.

"My lord, they have a proposition to make." The solider that guided them to Miraz explained.

Edmund nodded and unrolled his document, he coughed and then began reading out loud.

"I, Peter, by the gift of Aslan, by election and by conquest, High King of Narnia, Lord of Cair Paravel and emperor of the Lone Islands, in order to prevent the abominable effusion of blood, do hereby challenge the usurper Miraz to single combat upon the field of battle. The fight shall be to the death. The reward shall be total surrender."

"Tell me, Prince Edmund..." Miraz began to ask, his tone unamused by the young boy's proposal.

"King." Edmund corrected flatly.

Miraz was taken aback by his opposers remark, "Pardon me?"

"It's King Edmund, actually. Just "King," Edmund explained, "though. Peter's the high king."

Miraz still looked confused, and so Edmund continued, "I know, it's confusing."

"Why would we risk such a proposal when our armies could wipe you out by nightfall."? Miraz asked while waving his hand.

Edmund answered his advisory, "Haven't you already underestimated our numbers? I mean, only a week ago, Narnians were extinct."

"And so you will be again." Miraz retorted, he sifted in his chair. The king was very bored, he wanted to leave.

"Well, then you should have little to fear." Edmund added with a small smile plastered on his face.

"This is not a question of bravery."

"So you're bravely refusing to fight a swordsman half your age?"

The room fell to a complete silence. If you dropped a pen, you would be able to hear it hit the floor.

Miraz took a minute to compose himself before he spoke, "I didn't say I refused."

"You shall have our support, Your Majesty. Whatever your decision."

"Sire, our military advantage alone provides the perfect excuse to avoid what might otherwise be..." One of Miraz's men started to say, but he was interrupted by Miraz slamming his fist on the table.
