March 21, 2020

Today was the day the girls were headed over to Sue and James', well—now James' place, to start collecting her things to bring back to Emily's. James was out of town visiting with his parents for the weekend, so the girls would luckily not be running into him while they clear things out.

Sue waited outside for Emily to arrive with the truck rental so they could get everything in one go. She watched the road as Emily approached in a small U-Haul, honking the horn and smirking at Sue. Sue rolled her eyes and hopped into the truck.

Emily watched as Sue buckled her seatbelt, still a smirk on her face, "You know, babe, I never thought I was going to be that U-Haul lesbian but here I am."

Sue chuckled and shook her head, "Just drive, Dickinson."

Emily obeyed. It wasn't a far drive as the girls always lived fairly close to each other—it was just a pain in the ass to drive through the city. The most difficult part would be finding a parking spot right in front of the apartment building, but after arriving—the girls realized just how lucky they were to score a spot outside the building on the adjacent side street that was off of the main road.

Emily turned the truck off and unbuckled her seatbelt as Sue did the same. Emily leaned her head back into the seat and looked over at Sue. Sue turned her head to look back at Emily.

"Shit..." Emily chuckled, keeping her eyes glued to Sue.

"What?" Sue asked, raising her eyebrow with a small smirk on her face.

"I just love you." Emily said, looking at Sue longingly.

With the smirk still on her face, Sue leaned her head toward Emily's and they met each other halfway—pressing their lips together. They pulled away for a moment and then went in for one more kiss, letting their lips linger before pulling away.

"I love you, too." Sue said seriously, smiling at her. She grabbed Emily's cheek and pecked her on the lips one more time before speaking, "Let's get my shit out of there." She said, gesturing her head toward the building.

Emily nodded and they both got out of the truck together. Sue led the way into the building and Emily had her hand on her lower back the whole time. They entered the building and made their way upstairs to the apartment together. Sue took her key out of her pocket and unlocked the apartment, turning the light on as her and Emily both entered.

Sue took a good look around the apartment—everything was still the same. Sue's things weren't packed away or trashed, which surprised her, because she for sure thought James would start getting her things out of sight. The pictures of them together were still plastered all across the apartment, Sue's slippers were still on the mat next to the door, her décor and knickknacks still in place. She took a deep breath and continued through the apartment.

Like Sue, Emily, too, was taking a look around the apartment. Realistically, she hadn't been here in a long while—it was always Sue coming over to her place. Seeing all of the pictures up of Sue and James made Emily feel some type of way. She knew she shouldn't feel jealous because Sue was hers, but seeing the photos where she looks happy with him was stinging her in the moment. They were everywhere. With every move she made, there was a photo she'd have to look at of Sue and James—but fuck, those engagement photos on the TV stand really got to her.

She cleared her throat and shoved her hands in her pockets, staring at her girl as she continued to look around the apartment. The first thing Sue did was take the engagement ring she still had from James out of her pocket and put it on the counter in the kitchen. She didn't need that anymore and she had no intentions on keeping it. A sigh of relief left Emily's mouth as she watched her girl discard the ring from her pocket.
