Kai's POV:
Zane was shaking my shoulder, and I didn't quite snap out of it. However, I could see him a bit more clearly. I was just freaking out, I was worried a lot. "Rest Kai, it will be fine." Zane said with a reassuring smile, even though I knew it was too good to be true. I nodded, and instantly fell asleep.
I guess it had been quite some time, since it was the middle of the night when I woke up: 2:47 a.m. I felt uneasy, as if I had someone or something with me. My head hurt like crazy, but when It calmed down just a bit, and for just a moment, I looked down at my legs. They were burnt. I tried to move them, and they somehow moved fine. I could move my legs fine, wiggle my toes, but my nails were somehow sharper now. Even my fingernails, plus I do not remember my arm being tattooed? There was a tattoo of a skull being engulfed with flames on my arm underneath my wrist. Just where the needle..... and with that all I could hear was ringing.
I tossed and turned, it wouldn't stop! I tried covering me ears in a desperate attempt to make it stop, but nothing seemed to work!
Lloyd's POV:
We were all asleep, until we woke up. Me, Jay, Cole, and Zane all ran out of our rooms catching up with Nya on the way to the med-bay. We all had woken up from a bunch of blood-curtailing screams which seemed like they were coming from Kai! He never yelled nor screamed like this, we were all worried and frantic while running down the bounty halls.
"Hurry up guys! We have to get to my brother, now!" Nya screamed out loud as she just reached the door to where her brother was.
As we opened it, we all stood there in shock before jumping into actions.
"What is he doing Zane! What's happening!" Cole yelled out to the ninjroid as Kai was holding his ears with flaming hands as he screamed.
Without a word, Zane froze the room in attempts to make it colder since it was scorching hot. As he did, Kai's fire went out and he fell back asleep almost instantly. We all looked confused, especially for me. How could Kai be screaming one minute then asleep the next? As Zane went over to scan him, the ice ninja literally quote on quote 'froze in place'. He then turned his head and looked at us, signaling us to come closer.
"Oh my god.....Kai..." Nya said as she began to cry into Jay's shoulder, who was to her side. "How in the world did he manage to go asleep with...well...this..." Cole said as his words trailed of in disbelief and confusion.
"Jay, how about you take Nya out of here while me, Cole, and Zane try to figure this out?" I said to the pair trying to remain and sound calm and reassuring for Nya's sake. Jay nodded and walked out with the crying water ninja.
"I would suggest you both leave as well. Thing's won't look pleasing as I proceed with resolving this issue." Zane said as he turned around, once again, to me and Cole. He instantly turned back and looked at Kai, almost like he was afraid he would wake up again...or worse.
Me and Cole nodded, "Just make sure he's okay, Please Zane...?" Cole said in a worried tone. I was surprised once more, but added on "Thanks for watching over him Zane." Just like that, we walked out of the room.
As I walked down the halls of the bounty later that day, I couldn't get the thought off my mind on why Kai would do such a thing. Then I remembered something that I had not noticed sooner as I reached Med-bay. Inside on the bed was a sleeping Kai laying on his side...but...on his arm I noticed something...he's never gotten a tattoo...
Could that have been what drove him to burn his ears?
