Christine's P.O.V
Piercing emerald eyes stared back at me, gold and silver swirling in them, it was somehow cold and comforting at the same time, I felt the pull compelling me to go closer, to get lost in those gorgeous eyes. We stared at each other for who knows how long, I wasn't thinking or observing because if I had I would've seen the strange glint in his eyes. The moment soon broke when my mind restarted and screamed at me to say something. 'You've been spying on us?' Was the first thing that came out of my mouth, amusement filled his eyes before it vanished turning into its cold state but I had seen it and wanted to bang my head on a wall.
'They weren't spying Christine, they are helping us' Nan said and I finally saw the other beautiful man in the room. He was a curly blonde-haired man with sparkling brown eyes, he was muscular yet lean and was a little shorter than me, and was very attractive. Then I turned to the green-eyed one, standing in front of me he had black hair, sharp cheekbones, broad shoulders, tall (we were about the same height with him being an inch taller). They were dressed in all-black suits and everything about them screamed power, I knew they were agile and fast their relaxed but guarded stance said so, and were all super beautiful. Vampires, I concluded and I gaped at them, my mind processing why the hell there were vampires in the witches king's will reading. I stood there for a whole minute and then started laughing, Nan looked at me bewildered at my state and I now noticed Aurora had stopped reading the will.
I caught my breath and said 'You're working with vampires? "The Aurora, one of the three council elders", God this is funny'.
' yes Christine they are investigating the king's murder, and we hope that you will help them too' She said ignoring my insult.
My laughter was now gone, I asked 'Why are they helping? Don't you have a whole team for this kind of thing?'
'We do but they are better and have graciously accepted to help us' Drake said.
I hummed and turned back to the vampires 'Hello I'm Christine' I said to Mr. Green's eyes while sticking out my hand. He stared at it for a second and then accepted, his hand felt cold which is expected from a vampire but there was a certain warmth in his touch I couldn't place. 'Matthew Clairemonte, a pleasure to meet you' he said in his baritone voice and my thoughts went flying, not only because of his voice but because of his last name.
I gaped at him again and asked 'Clairemonte? like the Clairemontes? One of the most powerful vampires in the world?!'
'That would be us, I'm William Clairemonte' the other one said and flashed me an adorable cheeky smile. I smiled back at him, he gave me the vibes of someone who was cheery and warm not like Matthew who gave a closed-off, reserved feeling to me. But I wasn't going to judge them before I knew them so I pushed those thoughts away and focused on the situation at hand. I had to know why the king had added me to the will and the reason for which the Clairemontes were helping us. I kept an indifferent face and gestured for Aurora to go on.'Now that the introductions are over, we can start' The will shimmered open again and she started 'As per the request of The late king Jonathan Irene Terra, the heir to the witches, the next ruler of the kingdom of witches is princess Christine Christopher Terra'
There was a stunned silence across the room, I stood frozen as her words repeated in my head. My mother broke the silence by screaming 'How is that possible? She was cut off from our family years ago!!' With disgust and anger in her voice. My heart stung a little and but I ignored it as I agreed with her on this.
'For once I agree with you Mother, what are you talking about? I can't be the queen of the witches, the king removed me from his will years ago' I said finally finding my voice.
'I'm sorry Christine, but that's what the will says and it is final' Aurora said as calm as ever.
'Nope, we had a deal, you were supposed to give me nothing, I was going to stay with my family and then be on my way' I said getting a little hysterical right now.
'Yes we did Christine but the king's words are final, so you are going to agree to his words and be named the heir to the witches' she said.
'You cannot do that Aurora, she isn't fit for ruling, my son has been training for this since his birth, he deserves it not her' mother screamed.
'I can't believe I'm saying this but yeah I totally agree with her, I'm not fit for ruling a whole kingdom!!' I said freaking out now.
'Calm down the both of you, we cannot defy the king's will, we need you, Christine, to rule and make a better future for all the witches' she said looking at me.
I stood there for a moment trying to control my anger but my emotions got the better of me as I shouted looking at her directly in the eye ' You need me?! That's rich Aurora, very rich. Where were you when I needed you!? When my father died or when your king kicked me out of my house? I was a child, and Nan helped me to the best she could but you Aurora, you were like a friend to me, like a sister but you stood there and did nothing.' I blew out a breath and said in a low voice 'Now you need me to rule your witches? Guess what Aurora I don't care, I'm not going to be the queen or a pawn in your game, will be damned.'
Silence filled the room as I stood strong and defiant, a throat cleared as everyone's attention flew to Silas 'Perhaps a break -' he was cut off by Aurora 'No we need to finish this meeting, I'm sorry I wasn't there for you but please Christine reconsider your decision' she said as if I hadn't blown off on her. I scoffed at her indifferent attitude and said
'So we can break the will, amazing! You do that Aurora because I swear im not going to rule Terra in my whole life 'She was silent for some time and then said 'ok Christine but you will have to stay here until the investigation is over and I won't take no for an answer'
I knew she wasn't going to take no for an answer so I might as well figure this out myself I thought and said 'Fine I will stay here but Im going to help in the investigation'
' you can if the Clairemontes agree' she said and I turned to the Clairemontes who were silent throughout this whole thing. Mathhew glanced at William and turned to me 'It will be a pleasure to be working with you princess but you will be under me and my team's protection, if you agree then welcome to our team'
'Im okay with that Mr.Clairemonte' I said with a nod, their protection was better anyways
'Well then now that the matter is resolved, this will reading is complete. Thank you for coming' she said and all three of them stood up.
Out of the corner of my eye, I saw my mother give her a look and she subtly shook her head, of course, mother had something to complain about. I have to figure out what it is I thought as I walked to my room in the Cadrill palace.
