I heaved as I ran from the blazing fires and screams of those I loved, tears streaming down my cheek. I looked at the baby in my arms, my baby, she looked so peaceful, sleeping away in her mum's safe arms and I intended to keep it that way. I ran faster and called out to him through my mind when the screams rose and the footsteps grew closer. When no answer came, I stopped for a moment, petrified but then I heard his sweet voice say,

'I'm almost there, my love, go to her room '

His words sent a jolt through me and I ran faster than I had ever before and stopped before a looming door, it had intricate designs that hummed as I neared, it flew open at my touch and closed as I walked in, my baby finally stirred but didn't open her eyes as if she didn't want to see me in this state. And I was glad she didn't because my clothes were battered, my hair mangled and my body throbbing from fighting his army. She fell back asleep not wanting to show me her eyes, it bothered me but I brushed it off and waited for him.

My wait did not last long as I heard the door open, out of instinct to protect my child I held a hand up, a chant ready on my lips which died then and there when I saw him. He was breathing heavily, sweating from fighting, his blond hair dirtied by blood. His hazel eyes twinkled when he found us and he ran to us, squeezing me in his comforting hug, I cried with joy and showed him our beautiful baby. He smiled his dazzling smile and hugged the both of us again. I relished in the feeling, knowing the worst was coming.

I felt his dark presence as he neared and handed our beautiful girl to my love, he looked at me with a confused expression seeing my face hardening. I pushed them behind me and stood straight, regal, and with confidence just like my mother had taught me.

The door banged open and there he stood, the destroyer of my life. He looked the same as he had been years ago, with black hair and matching eyes, an evil grin on his face. I showed no emotion but I felt fear for my daughter and my love. He sensed this and grinned even more,

'Looks like I've caught you, my dear. No, where to go now he said in his low spine chilling voice and then he looked at her and said

'Ah I see you've got me a gift, such a pretty little thing she is'

His words caused my anger to rise and I said ' She's ours, always has and always will be '

He laughed and said 'Not for long dear, once you and your pathetic mortal are gone, she's all mine'

Panic flared through me for a moment but calmness rushed right after because I knew what to do, how to save my daughter and my love.

I laughed at him and said ' You can only dream, you bastard, she's gonna be ours forever, I promise you that

He raised an eyebrow seemingly amused ' And how will she be yours when you're dead?' He asked, black wisps of magic forming in his hands.

I answered by shooting with bright red wisps of magic at him, forcing him out, and turned to my family. A sad smile formed on my lips and I said

' go, my love, protect her with all your strength, she's all we have left. She'll do great things, give her this when she is old enough to know our story' I took off my necklace and handed it to him.

He opened his mouth to object but I captured his lips in a kiss and expressed all the emotions I couldn't say out loud without breaking down. I said goodbye, how much I loved my time on earth and how much I loved both of them.

He was in tears at the end and so was I but this was inevitable, so I pulled myself together and looked at my baby girl and as if sensing my sorrow she opened her eyes and I couldn't be happier. It glowed, two purple orbs with specks of gold in them. I touched her forehead muttering something and backed away, heartbreaking at the thought of leaving my family before I got to live with them.

My eyes glowed a dark red and I whispered ' I will always love the both of you, in life or death' and teleported them out of the room.

Tears rolled down my cheek as the door broke open and his magic hit me with full force and he snarled

' what have you done?!!'

I smiled and said ' She's going to live, and thrive while you will be a pile of bones '

I waved my hand forming the spell which my mother always forbade and warned me. As I muttered the last enchantments, the man realized what was happening, and tried running but the spell had started, and once started no one could break it.

The earth started shaking, the walls crumbling and I screamed as my skin started burning, the earth, and walls started giving away and my last thought was

' I hope they're safe

Before everything turned black...
