Christine's P.O.V
You know when you're already dreading something and it turns out to be just more awful, yeah that's what today is turning out to be. I groaned as a maid pushed me into the makeup room, breaking me out of my thoughts, 'Why do we have to do this again?' I whined as I was pushed into the chair and three maids surrounded me with different products. 'You know why, you are the eldest princess of Terra, you have to look spectacular' May said with a stern look from behind me. I rolled my eyes at her and opened my phone to check some work emails but my mind was elsewhere, I hated the way sounded when she said I was the princess, it was like she still believed in me, and hoped I was going to come back to this horrid place and live here. I was pushed out of my thoughts when I felt them drag me toward the closet, to where my dress was. The dress was enchanting, a soft blue with glitter all over it, and flowy. At least I would look beautiful, I thought, and wore my dress.
Beautiful violin played in my ears as I walked into the ballroom, all eyes on me as I descended the ornate, gorgeous stairs, looking at all the creatures. A hint of anxiety filled me, not because I had all their eyes on me but because of what they saw me as overly talkative, making me want to hurt every one of them. I roamed around the room carefully, avoiding all family and the other royals looking for the one person who had become my friend over these last few terrible days when my eyes found someone that made me stop and wonder, how the hell can someone look that good?!
Mathhew looked wonderfully handsome today, with his tailored black suit to those uncanny eyes and that fully soft hair I had a hard time wondering how anyone could keep his eyes off him. I must have been starting too long because I didn't realize he was also staring at me but when I did, it made me go blank, his face didn't give away anything but those eyes told me something else entirely like he knew all my secrets like I was the only one who-
I was suddenly pulled away breaking the weird trance I was in, I turned back to glance a look at him but found him gone leaving me perplexed, angry, and annoyed at myself for being attracted to him.I was sipping my champagne, staring at the various creatures talking and dancing, the strange eye contact thing still in the back of my head, while Will went on and on about llamas, I wasn't paying attention but was half listening so when he all of a sudden stopped talking I turned to him with confusion in my face and saw him tense up. 'Will, what..' I started but got cut off when he pulled me behind him, I was about to protest but a huge blast sounded, and if it wasn't for Will's tight grip on me I would've blown away. Once my senses were back to normal, I realized that the whole room was filled with silence, you know the kind where you know something was wrong. I slowly looked up from behind Will and saw what was left of the wall, I heard a whimper beside me and saw the guards blocking the creatures from whatever was happening. My mind instantly went to my nan and Elliot, and I somewhat relaxed when I saw them being guarded heavily, but everything went to hell when the windows shattered and 8 men draped in black flew into the room. No one spoke as the men stood in the direction of the doors, and before anyone could do anything a shadow of a man appeared with a hazy face breaking the silence. Will tightened his hold on me and tried to pull me behind as if trying to hide me from the man's gaze but I resisted and we settled on me standing half behind him.
'Ah, isn't this a beautifully outrageous ballroom, hasn't changed since I last came here.' He said with an unnerving voice, he sounded amused and somehow still terrifying.
'Who are you? Show yourself!' Aurora said sounding as calm and strong as ever.
'Ahh, Aurora darling, don't remember me?' When no one responded, he continued 'Aww, you don't, I'm disappointed, Anyway did you like my present?' Once again no one answered making him continue. ' You haven't figured it out? I thought you guys were smart, oh well' he said with a pout.
'What are you talking about?' Aurora asked.
'Why your dead king of course' A wave of shock washed over the crowd and he continued 'Did you like my work? Well, not mine but it may as well have been. He did a good job, didn't he? Where is he anyway? I would have expected him to be present for his reward'
'Your friend got caught, he's in our cell' Drake said, his face an immovable mask.
'Is he? Hmm, I don't think so ' he said and waved a hand, making another man walk into the room, a tortured-looking man- most likely an assassin, I gasped silently angry that I wasn't informed of this, and made a note to punch Aurora in the face.
'Hello my friend, you did a wonderful job, I ought to reward you for that ' he said making a smile break out on the bruised face of the assassin. He waved his hand again and one of his men walked toward the spy, everyone waited in anticipation and was thoroughly horrified when he pulled out a knife and stabbed the assassin straight through his heart, everyone gaped at the scene but the man paid no attention and said 'but you got caught and I can not allow any weakness in my army.'
I was stunned but I had seen worse than this, my eyes left the body for a second and drifted to my nan and Elliot, they were standing tall but I could see the slight fear in Elliot's eyes and I hoped to God that this shadow guy wouldn't hurt them.
'God, what a mess! I'll let you clean this up, Anyhow what was I here for again? Ah yes! To warn you. I want the "Esecta" and I know you know how to obtain it, get it to me before the last summer moon or someone dies'
What in the world is Esecta?! I thought trying to remember my lacking knowledge of the supernatural but came up with nothing.
'We will never give you the Esecta' Aurora told her voice hard, and her face showing nothing.
'Hmm, I thought you'd say that but the good thing is I have the perfect incentive' he paused for dramatic reasons and continued 'I have something or rather a special someone of yours, Aurora' he said in a cheeky tone still somehow sounding unnervingly cold.
Aurora's mask cracked slightly showing a shine of concern and I wasn't the only one who noticed it
'Yes, I have him and if you don't bring me the Esecta, I'll do to him what they did to me when I was last here 'Another crack appeared in Aurora's mask and we could all see that she was beyond pissed and was holding back.
'So you do remember who I am, good That means you will follow through with everything I say. And don't even try to get your little vampire pets to get him back, We've surrounded every exit to Terra, and no one is going anywhere, so sit tight and get me the Esecta In a week. I'll be waiting in the place they first found me, see you ' he said and the shadows with the 9 men draped in black disappeared leaving a sense of dread and curling fear filled in the room.No one made any noise for a few moments before erupting into panic, trying to run back to safety when a voice- Matthew's voice boomed, silencing everyone ' Quiet, please! there is no reason for panic, the enemy is gone, we apologize for the inconvenience, and as to the demands of the enemy, they will be met and the council will make sure of everyone's safety, until then, please do not talk of this to anyone, the guards will lead you outside the castle and to your homes, goodnight'
Everyone except the royals began walking out the of ballroom, still afraid and tired, and soon they were gone leaving a room of very angry, ridiculously powerful royals.
A gloriously rich, elegant-looking man most probably the king of werewolves opened his mouth to say something but was cut off by Jordan ' Not here, they might be listening, Let's go to the meeting room, it's time they all know' he said turning to a scary im having a midlife crisis looking Aurora who barely nodded.
Well, this will be fun I thought my anger resurfacing, and walked to the meeting room.
