Matthew's P.O.V

Tension was high in the throne room as we waited for her to arrive, it was still astonishing how many powerful creatures were in the room especially because I couldn't dream about a meeting like this a few thousand years ago and it was all because of a murder and a witch. I sighed inwardly as I heard her soft footsteps getting closer to us already tired of this meeting. She walked In and I found my weary mood replaced with burning curiosity, I frowned at myself and decided to focus on the meeting. 'Welcome everyone, As some of us know this meeting has been called for the declaration of the next ruler of Terra' Aurora said. Everyone visibly tensed with anticipation and she continued

'The council has decided that the next ruler of the kingdom of the witches, Terra will be Jason Caroline Terra' I frowned inwardly and cheers flowed from The queen and his mother. 'And in honor of our fallen king and the coronation of our next, we will have a ball next week in the palace of Terra, all creatures will be invited. The word has spread and we will be leaving for Terra tomorrow.' She finished and a plan immediately started forming in my mind, I wasn't the only one I noted as I noticed the witch glance back at me. I raised an eyebrow in question and she nodded as if telling me "I know what you're planning and I'm planning the same" and turned away as her name was called. Left perplexed at her sharp-witted mind I stared at her, those Auburn bangs falling on her eyes- those eyes, so expressive, showing nothing yet I knew better, she was tense, her heart which had skipped a beat when Aurora had finished, why I wondered, frowning when I realized I was monitoring her heartbeat unconsciously. I suppressed the thought that jumped up and gazed at her.

She was enigmatic I noted, drawing all the eyes to her as she entered a room, it didn't seem to bother her as she stood confidently in a room full of creatures who could and had slain mighty monsters. How? I marveled but instantly knew, she was Terra, a witch even outcasted was powerful. I recalled the rumors about the princess who ran away, who left her kingdom in time of need, who left her family the riches, and power that came with it all while it was entirely for her. Why? I asked myself and something of a pull made me want to go question her, to fulfill all my curiosities.

I nearly vamped over but was stopped by my brother saying 'Brother why are you staring at my best friend?'. Unknown anger coursed through me but I suppressed it and turned to William 'I am not staring merely observing and from when is she your best friend?' I said.
'Observing? Come now, brother, don't lie, and she became my best friend the moment I saw her' he said.
'You know I don't lie Will, and I think she would not like being made something without her say' I said.
'Ah right you only hold back information brother not lie, I asked, and she said yes so that makes her my best friend now' he said grinning like a cat.
'Please act your age William' I said.
'We cannot all be grumpy all the time brother, Have some fun, for all anyone knows I am 25, so I am acting my age' he said still grinning when Aderyn called him, he flitted past me and I sighed already tired with his antics.

I sensed someone trying to get inside my head and turned towards Drake, allowing him into my head

'This ball is significant, everything should go according to plan. Aurora and Jordan agree with me, execute the plan with perfection and make sure the witch does not get involved'

I nodded at him and was going to walk out of the room to get ready for the next meeting when her voice stopped me ' Matthew?'

I turned and raised an eyebrow at the slightly tense, nervous-looking witch 'Yes?'

' I want to tell you something, preferably away from prying ears' she said while tilting her head towards everyone in the room.

I nodded at her and gestured for her to walk with me. We walked side by side, and I could smell her somehow sweet, spicy, and sour scent mixed forming something I couldn't describe, even her scent was alluring I realized, and groaned inwardly, Drake's words ringing in my head. It irritated me but I ignored that feeling and focused on the matter at hand. I led her toward the study but noticed that her footsteps were ahead of mine like they already knew where everything was and were defying her as she tried to hide it. Interesting I thought and marked this as one of the things on my list of mysterious aspects of her. We reached the study and walked in as I locked the door, I turned to her and saw a mesmerized yet nostalgic look on her face and asked 'Not changed much I assume?'

'No, it's the same as the last time I saw it, all of Cadrill is' she said with a hint of bitterness in her voice. I decided not to dwell on it and asked

' What did you want to tell me?'

Her face turned into something more serious and she said ' I know what our plan probably is for catching the mole and all but I have a theory and I cannot know if it is true without your help'

I was immediately suspicious of her but I nodded telling her 'You can tell me, I will do anything I can to help'

She scoffed as she saw through my words and said 'I'm not stupid Matthew, I am not telling you anything before I know I can trust you'

I sighed knowing she was right but I also couldn't let her get involved In the council's work. The council was somebody I couldn't defy right now, but the look in her eyes did something to me like they were daring me to tell her she was wrong about whatever theory she had. Hearing her was not going to hurt our operation I decided and said
' I don't know how to prove that you can trust me, but I have an inkling that what you have to tell me is important for our investigation at least in your eyes.'

She looked astonished at my answer and muttered to herself 'Do vampires read minds?'. My lips curled at the comment and I cleared my throat gaining her attention. She turned to me and said 'Right sorry, well what you said was right I am going to tell you anyways but first I need your word that you won't say anything about this to anyone'

I sighed and thought about it, it wouldn't hurt anyone, right? All I was doing was giving my word not to say this to anyone, I convinced myself, and said ' I give you my word, none of this conversation will leave this room'

Just as she was going to start telling me, her phone rang and she excused herself turning away to pick up the call. I awaited her theory but something in the back of my head was telling me that I had just made the biggest mistake of my life.

Little did I know how wrong I was...
