Christine's P.O.V
'Nan' I called softly to the meditating woman, she took a deep breath and exhaled as if removing all the tension from her mind and said, 'Come, sit' patting the spot next to her.
'Did you find out anything about my powers acting up?' I asked, imitating her pose, 'I found something but I'm not sure how it's possible' she answered her voice filled with confusion.
'What is it, Nan?' I asked, ' The king changed his will before he died so there is a possibility that he might've reversed your banishment' she replied taking my hand in hers.
'But how? I thought that was impossible, moreover, he hated me Nan remember?' I said in shock and continued after a moment of thought 'But it makes sense I guess, he wanted me to be queen and that couldn't happen if I was banished'
She nodded, ' It is still quite shocking though, reversing a banishment is unheard of. But he was king, he had his secrets and even me, his wife,e and the queen didn't know all of them' she said, a flash of sadness passing through her face.
I squeezed her hand and asked 'Do you miss him, Nan?' Knowing they didn't have the best relationship, she gave me a sad smile and said 'Of course I do, we were together for more than 50 years, it wasn't the easiest journey nor the happiest one but I lived with him, I loved him and became habituated to him. Now it feels different, we weren't on the best of terms before he died, I was angry and hurt because of your father's death and for what he did to you and he couldn't understand why, perhaps he changed the will because my words finally pierced through his thick skull, I just hoped we had the chance to talk before he was killed' her voice breaking at the end.
I hugged her and said 'I might've hated him but I will avenge his death for you, Nan', she nodded in thanks and hugged me tighter.
My heart throbbed at the pain she had gone through, first the death of her son and now her husband, it was like the universe loved watching her suffer, damn you, I cursed at it.
After a few moments of comfort, Nan composed herself, wiping away a stray tear, and said 'Be careful out there, hun. Travis Gallimore is not to be taken lightly, I had met him once before he was persecuted, he was a formidable soldier with equal parts of bravery and cunning' cautiousness replacing her grief.
I nodded and said 'I will but don't you sit here worrying about Eli, we will all protect him', she gave me a "that's not who I am worried about" look
I sighed and said 'I will be fine, Nan. The vampires will protect me and if they fail I can always fight them'
Her eyes lit up at the mention of me fighting and she asked 'How did you learn how to fight like that, hun?' Curiosity was written all across her face.
I smiled mysteriously and whispered 'Thats a secret, Nan', she glared at me for a few seconds and ordered 'You are telling me all that happened after your banishment immediately after you come back, understood? Her voice was soft yet demanding.
My smile faded a little but I widened it and exclaimed 'Understood, Your Majesty'. She gave me a pleased smile and said 'Go now, be aware of your surroundings, and may Kamari be with you'. I hugged her one last time, whispered I love you and ran out the door.
'Would you like coffee or tea, miss' a flight attendant asked in hushed tones, breaking me out of my memory, 'Uh, coffee please' I whispered and thanked her. I took a sip of the coffee and thought about what Nan had ordered, was I ready to talk about all the things that happened after I was banished? No, I certainly wasn't. It had been years since I had left that life and made a new, normal life for myself burying all those sour feelings in a tightly sealed box, I was afraid if I opened up that box, I wouldn't be able to close it.
So I decided no, I wouldn't tell her the whole truth and only the watered-down version of what happened, I hoped she wouldn't mind my lies I thought and turned when I noticed that Emily had taken the seat beside me.
