Christine's P.O.V
My eyes opened when I felt Emily's hand slipping from mine, I caught her before she could fall and whispered 'Breathe, Emily, it'll pass' and led her to one of the seats lined up against the wall, with a nod and her eyes tightly closed we waited in the same position for a few moments.
'I think I'm fine now' she said and stood up straight, 'But a little warning would have been nice' she continued with an annoyed look on her face.
'I forgot, I'm sorry' I said with a grimace and turned to the others who were feeling the same adverse effects, Rose was leaning against a sick-looking Charlie, and Eli was sitting on the floor with his head in his hands but the vampires with all their glory stood unaffected.
After a moment or two of panting breaths, a witch nervously came up to our group, 'I hope you all are fine your Highness's', we nodded at her but only Matthew, our unofficial leader spoke 'We are, thank you. You are Raya, the witch in attending here, yes?' With a polite smile on his face. She ducked her head down, a blush coating her face, and stuttered 'Yes sir' Her voice and face dazzled at the attention this man gave her, I raised an eyebrow at this and stopped myself from laughing out loud when I saw Will making a gag expression.
'Please come, your rooms are ready and the flight to California leaves tomorrow so you have plenty of time for resting' she said as she led us further into the building. I took a glance back at the portal disguised as a door identical to the one back in Terra. I wondered how I could feel its power so intensely and not feel sick like the others when I had traveled through the portals only a few times before.
Why was my weak power getting stronger now? I questioned myself as I reached my room, Its probably nothing I assured myself but I knew In my heart that I was wrong. I shrugged off the feeling and decided to have a date with the bed.
After a much-needed nap, I went on the hunt for coffee and ended up in the kitchen slash dining area, my eyes saw nothing but the coffee as I beelined towards it without any regard to anyone in the room. I sighed as the bitter goodness flooded my mouth and thanked whoever discovered coffee, 'Is it that good?' Charlie asked as he approached me,
'Yes! Humans make the best coffee' I answered, he gave me a suspicious look and said 'We have good coffee too' with a little offense in his tone.'Yes but this is heaven, I prefer this over anything' I said and turned when Raya walked into the room, she shuffled nervously and stuttered a bit before Rose kept a comforting hand on her shoulder and said 'Calm down' in a soothing yet commanding tone.
An embarrassed blush turned her face red but she immediately obliged and said 'A carnival has come to the town nearby perhaps you might be interested in attending' Her words measured as if to not offend us, was she scared of us? I scoffed internally at the fact that The Council had gone so corrupt that common witches assumed us to be spoiled brats with immense power.
'That sounds like an amazing idea! Most of us have never seen a carnival before' Rose said smiling at Raya and turning to us 'Is that fine with you guys?' She asked her face beaming.
Who could say no to that face, I thought and we all nodded,
'Would you give us the directions to the carnival and a car, please', I asked Raya, 'Yes princess, I will be back in a moment' she said and scurried out of the room. "Princess" resonated in my head and I glared at the thought, the king hated me for most of my life, took my right away to be a princess, and decided suddenly that I could be that girl again. What was he thinking, I pondered, did he assume I would be delighted? Grateful? Stupid old man.
