The pain was excruciating, I was pushing and pushing and nothing was happening.
I looked at Matt, he was being so wonderful, and I should have told him then, when I had the chance, I should have told him he was my life, my world and that I loved him with every fibre of my being, but I didn't, the pain was too much.
Another midwife came in, she didn't say much, but as she was there another contraction hit me and the pain, the pain was excruciating. I had to push, I couldn't not push but as I did I felt something rip inside me and it didn't feel right, it hurt, alot.
"Ana, I need you to hold off for a minute." She told me, as the other left the room.
But I couldn't, something was wrong and I wanted my baby to be okay, I wanted my baby out, because something was wrong, something was very wrong.
"Ana you need to close your eyes and relax."
And I did, for a moment, then I sat up and I pushed and pushed.
"Matthew, can you do me a favor and press the button behind Ana's head."
I watched Matt lean over, and he pushed that button. His face said it all, something was wrong, he knew it and I knew it.
I watched as doctors and nurses came running into my room.
"Push Ana." One demanded.
I looked at Matthew, he was gripping my hand.
"Don't baby." He whispered. "Please don't push, don't do this anymore."
I had too. This baby meant the world to me and I needed it to be safe.
"You'll be okay Matt." I whispered. "You'll be fine."
And I pushed and I pushed. The more I pushed, the more my body broke, once again my body had let me down.
I felt my vision getting blury and I didn't know what was going on anymore, I was only aware of Matt.
"Ana." Someone yelled.
I looked at Matt and he was crying.
"Don't cry." I whispered. "Our baby is fine."
"Ana we're taking you to surgery."
I was trying to concentrate on what they were telling me but I couldn't, I couldn't because all I could hear was our baby crying, screaming, objecting to being in this world.
"Ana please." Matt whispered, and he was holding onto me so tightly.
"I did it Matthew." I murmured. "I did it."
He shook his head and one of his tears dropped onto my hand.
"Ana, please stay with me." He cried as I felt hands grabbing at me.
I was trying, I was trying to stay but everything was fading.
I looked at Matt once again and that was when I saw someone standing behind him, I smiled and they smiled back.
"Mom." I whispered.
"Christ no." Matt screamed.
I looked at my mother and the world faded away.
