Chapter 9: Basketball Basics

Location Hexside's Highschool/ Time 6:30 am

Luz and Hunter got to the gym, unpacked their stuff and started a game. "Alright, Hunter we are gonna run over the basics first." Luz said dribbling the ball.

Hunter rolled his eyes, groaning. "But! I already know the basics! We do the basics everytime before we start a game." Hunter whined. Luz rolled her eyes at her brothers behavior.

Luz shot the ball making it in the hoop. "I know we do okay? It good to remember and warm up with." Luz replied, making a another shot. Hunter rolled his shoulders.

"How come I'm older than you and your better at basketball then I am?" Hunter asked raising his hand motioning to give to the ball to him.

Luz tossed the ball hard to her brother "Think fast!" Luz yelled, getting a gunt in returned. Luz shook her head, running her hand through it. "Two give you a answer, I've been into basketball since I have been three. You tried to get into football but, failed then gave up on sports for quite a time. While I was practicing everyday, 24/7. Now here I am." Luz said grabbing her clipboard.

Luz clicked her tongue, signaling that it's time for basics. "Two start off, dribbling while couching down." Luz said. Hunter started doing the first basic. He was really good at it.

"Next up! Practicing on your layup." Luz said holding her hand out for the ball. Hunter nodded, tossing the ball in Luz's direction. Luz caught the ball, bouncing it on the floor.

"I'll show you a layup, then I want you to practice what I show you. Knowing how to do a layup will help you in games. It's a tricky move but, if you practice alot, Your get it." Luz replied. Hunter nodded his head, paying his full attention on his sister.

Luz showed hunter what a layup was. Luz showed him a couple of times to make sure he got it. Luz passed the ball to hunter.

Hunter bounced the ball a few times. Crossing it through his legs.
Hunter ran up to the hoop, Jumping up to do the layup but getting the whole move off.

Hunter practiced the layup a few more times till he got it.

Hunter went through with all the basics getting to his favorite part.

The game

Luz and Hunter stood across from eachother. Luz bounced the ball to hunter. Hunter bounced it back to Luz.
Luz stood there, dribbling the ball. She started walking to her right. Hunter following her from a distance, getting ready for any trick up her sleeve.

Luz took a big step towards Hunter, making him put his hands in front of him, getting ready. Luz smirked at her trick. It was one of the oldest tricks in the book and it still got hunter.

Luz continued taking big steps toward hunter. Luz held the ball, pushing it to hunter, making him fall for her trick. Luz suddenly dribbling, crossing between her legs. Luz did a spin running towards the hoop.

Hunter ran after Luz. He was going over a plan in his head on how to get the ball from his sister. Hunter got infront of Luz, waving his hands in the air, blocking the ball from going in the hoop.

Luz quickly broke hunter's ankles. Shooting the ball in the hoop. "Anddddd That's how it's done Brotherrr." Luz bragged while panting.

Hunter stuck his tongue out at his sister braggingness. Hunter bit the inside of his cheek, in annoyance. "It's no fair! You're captain of the basketball team. Of course you're gonna be good." hunter yelled in a losing, whining tone. He was mad that he lost to his younger sister.

Luz checked the time on her phone. "It's 7:00. Do you wanna play another quick game or head back to the house and get ready for school?" Luz asked.

Hunter thought about the question for a minute, thinking for an answer. "Let's do a quick game then call it a game." Hunter said rubbing the back of his neck.

Luz nodded her head, getting ready for another game. "You better get ready to lose pretty boy." Luz smirked knowing she's gonna win. Hunter returned the smirk back "You sure about that? Cuz I'm certain imma win this time." Hunter was determined to win this game against his sister.
