Or In This One

Once we got inside, Skadi's servants began making sure our group was taken care of. All nine of us were each taken to separate rooms where we were ( or at least I was) placed in what felt like boiling water ( I can deal with most temperatures due to being a child of Frey, but hot water is where I draw the line), and were given some sort of drink that contained herbs.

After being dressed in white wool, I was escorted down to a typical Viking hall where most of my friends already sat, and went to take a seat at the end of one of the benches next to T.J.

Once we'd all been seated ( as per usual, Magnus was the last one there), Skadi spoke.

" Welcome travelers to Thrymheimr- in your language, Thunder Home."

Immediately after, there was a loud boom, what sounded like Snow Thunder, something I'd heard a few times in Boston when it snowed during a thunderstorm.

" Thunder Home," Halfborn said with a nod." A good name, considering, you know, the constant-"

The boom came again, interrupting him.

" I can't reach Gunderson," Mallory told Alex." Hit him for me, will you?"

The giantess turned to my brother." So, you and your sister are some of Njord's, eh? Children of Frey, I suppose."

     " Yes, uh, ma'am."

" I can see the resemblance. Njord wasn't the worst husband. He was kind. He had beautiful feet."

" Outstanding feet," Blitzen quickly agreed.

" But we just couldn't get along," the giantess continued." Irreconcilable differences. He didn't like my hall, can you believe it?"

You have a beautiful hall, Hearth signed.

" Thank you, elf," Skadi said ( it was always rare when any god or jotun diety understood whatever Hearth was saying)." Certainly, Thunder Home is better than Njord's seaside palace. All those gulls constantly screeching- I couldn't stand the noise!"

" Yes," Alex agreed." No peace and quiet, unlike here."

" Exactly," the giantess said ( apparently Jotun diety's knew as much about sarcasm as Helgi did)." My father built this fortress, may his soul rest with Ymir, the first giant. Now Thrymheimr is mine, and I don't intend to leave it. I've had my fill of the Aesir! Now tell me, Magnus Chase, why did Njord send you to me? Please tell me he doesn't still harbor illusions about us getting back together."

I was beginning to feel grateful Njord had decided he wanted to talk to my brother rather than talk to me. This family drama was something I was all too happy to stay out of.

" Njord wanted me to see how you felt about him," Magnus eventually told her.

Skadi let out a sigh." I don't believe this. He didn't send you with flowers, did he? I told him to stop it with the bouquets."

" No flowers," Magnus said quickly." And Njord's feelings aren't the main reason we're here. We've come to stop Loki."

All the servants that had been moving around the hall immediately stopped to stare at my brother.

     Skadi seemed intruiged." Go on."

" Loki is getting his ship Naglafar ready to sail. We're here to stop him, recapture him, and bring him back to the Aesir so we'd don't have to fight Ragnarok, like, tomorrow."
