Kenshin sat quietly on his veranda, eyes staring off into the distance emotionlessly. He had spent many nights since his return to the castle like this. An untouched pouch of sake and a bowl of pickled plums sat next to him. Usually, during times of stress, these two things helped him keep calm. However, without (M/n) at his side, he felt extremely restless, and the things that used to comfort him no longer performed any sort of function.

The warlord let out a huge sigh, gritting his teeth. "Where are you right now, (M/n)?. . . Are you alright?" The blonde queried, his voice breaking as he asked himself this question which currently had no answer. Who had kidnapped his lover?! Who thought that they could mess with him like this?! Kenshin's once emotionless eyes flooded with rage. His blood began to boil.

He rose from his spot on the veranda. He could no longer sit here. He thirsted for a fight. He wanted to see blood! If he sat here any longer, he'd be driven insane by his thoughts. He turned and exited his room, heading to the training grounds. He was going to find a partner to duel with if it was the last thing he did.

Renko's POV

Renko walked alongside Sora, showing her around the huge castle. "Are you sure I'll be allowed to stay here for the time being?" The girl questioned timidly. Renko nodded her head determinedly.

"Of course! After what I did, it's the least I can do for you. Also, I can't have you going back to that awful place where no one treats you as an equal. I want you to feel loved." Renko murmured. Sora's eyes widened at the girl's words. Her eyes began to tear up.

"Thank you for saving me." The girl whispered in a shaking voice. Renko smiled gently and pat the younger's head. She tried not to betray how she truly felt at the moment. She was yearning for Chisana. She'd rather be at her side at this very moment. But she had to refrain from acting on her feelings, for both the sake of her and Chisana.

Chisana had also told her to leave her alone, and she had to respect the girl's wishes. . . At least in this way, she would not be destroying Chisana's life. Every time Renko remembered what Chisana told her the day she beheaded that leader, her heart clenched in her chest. Renko wanted to go to Chisana right now, and tell her she was just trying to protect her. . . From herself. . .

"Lord Renko, are you alright? You suddenly went quiet." Sora mumbled, staring into her eyes. Renko blinked a few times and shook her head. She pushed her thoughts aside and tried to act normally.

"Yes, I'm fine. I was just thinking about whether I should train today or not." She murmured.

Kenshin's POV

Kenshin walked down the hallways, his hand gripping a small, embroidered handkerchief. It was the first thing that (M/n) ever sewed. Kenshin remembered how his lover hadn't been pleased with the way the pattern turned out, and he was about to toss it away. Kenshin told the other that he would take it off of his hands and keep it instead.

(M/n) told Kenshin that he could make an even better one, but Kenshin was fine with this handkerchief. Though the embroidery was crooked and rushed, it was (M/n)'s first time ever trying this, and Kenshin wanted to treasure all of (M/n)'s firsts.

He held the cloth close to this chest. He was still craving to fight and he picked up his pace. He scowled when he noticed two bodies up ahead, blocking his path. At first, he thought that it was a few of his soldiers and that they were lounging around, and so his hand immediately went to the hilt of his sword. However, his hand halted instantly when he recognised one of the faces. It was his sister. He sighed disappointedly and removed his hand. He moved in closer, deciding to just walk past whoever Renko was with when his eyes locked in on a tattooed crest on this stranger's shoulder.
