(M/n) stirred awake. He blinked tiredly as he moved onto his back. He expected to see the cold, stone ceiling of his cell.
His eyes widened when instead of stone, he saw panels. He sat up with a start, sleep no longer clinging to him. Slowly, memories of last night emerged.
He'd promised Kenshin that he would stay by his side in exchange for him no longer hurting anyone. . . He sighed, rubbing his eyes.
If there had been any other option, he would've taken it. He really would've. Unfortunately for him though, he knew that if he didn't agree to Kenshin's terms he probably would never let him see the light of day ever again. So, he had to make this promise. . .
He reminded himself that he would go down this path he'd been made to choose with pride! He sat up straighter. It was only then that the male realised that he was alone in his futon.
Kenshin was nowhere to be seen. He was a little surprised to be honest that the lord had left him all alone. Where was he?. . .
(M/n) decided that he would explore the castle a bit in the blonde's absence.
He rose from his futon and opened up a closet where Kenshin's day clothes hung. Barely any of (M/n)'s clothes were there yet so he picked out something at random and quickly got changed.
Once he was dressed, he crept over to the shoji. He frowned when he heard voices outside of the room. I'm so dumb. Kenshin obviously must've stationed guards outside because he isn't here to watch over me. They probably won't let me leave. . .
The boy couldn't help but be curious about the guards' conversation. So, he stood there, ear pressed against the shoji.
"Kenshin still hasn't returned?" One guard asked.
"Of course he hasn't. Don't you remember? That Chisana girl who arrived at the castle quite some time ago is very sick. Kenshin's been running himself ragged trying to find something to ease her suffering." When (M/n) heard that, it felt like his heart had dropped into his stomach. Chisana's sick?! Since when?. . .
(M/n) gulped when he remembered that Kenshin once threatened to harm Chisana. Had he lost it and harmed her and pretended she was sick?!
The male hadn't been intending to reveal that he was listening to the conversation however he could no longer sit here now that he knew that there was something wrong with the young girl he considered his little sister.
He threw open the shoji, the worry mixed with anger apparent on his expression. "What do you mean Chisana's sick?!" (M/n) exclaimed. The guards both jumped at the sudden, third voice that joined in on their conversation. They seemed nervous and they shook their heads.
"It's nothing to worry about, Master (M/n)." (M/n) scowled.
"Of course it is! Stop lying to me. What's wrong with her?!" The guards exchanged looks. (M/n) had had enough! If they weren't going to tell him, then he'd go and find out himself!
"Fine then. If you don't tell me, I'll find out myself. Move." (M/n) attempted to leave but a guard held out an arm, preventing him from walking out.
"You are not to step out of this room until Lord Kenshin's return." The guard instructed.
"I couldn't care less! There's something wrong with Chisana and I will find out what it is!!" (M/n) shouted, trying to get past the two who were stood at his door.
They blocked him, not giving him any chances of escaping. The male let out a frustrated yell.
"What's going on?" Queried a chilly voice. The guards tensed and immediately dropped their arms. They bowed to Kenshin.
