A young boy ran through a lush, green forest whilst warm salty tears ran down his (s/c) cheeks. Night was slowly blanketing the skies, making (M/n)'s path harder to discern. Nonetheless, he still ran. He ran and ran until he was out of breath.
He couldn't believe it. . . He crumpled to his knees once he came to a complete stop. He pressed his shaking hands against his face, trying to rid himself of the scene that he had just witnessed.
No matter how hard he tried to block the memory out, it constantly replayed in his head, taunting him. He just stood there as his mother was struck around the head with a lamp and then strangled. He didn't even make one move.
He didn't think his father was capable of this much cruelty. All he ever did was hit them, but not that violently. (M/n) slowly removed his trembling hands from his face. He stared into his wettened palms as a truth washed over him. He no longer had a mother. She protected him through thick and thin, and now she was gone.
In her last moments, nobody came to save her. He should've been the one to suffer his father's wrath.
Where was (M/n) going to go now? He had no home to return to. He would never go back to his father. If he was capable of killing his mother, who knew what he'd do if (M/n) went back to him. . . He hoped the police wouldn't look for him. He wasn't ever going back to his father. He didn't want anything to do with him. He'd rather live on his own but he was only fifteen. However, this was the only option he had left because he had no one to turn to now.
Though (M/n) was tired and wanted to rest, he forced himself to stand up.
He clutched his bag which contained hardly anything and he trekked through the forest, wondering where he could go. He'd grown so dependent on his mother to take care of each and every need of his, but now that she was gone, he would have to find his own way in this cruel world. . .
Suddenly, a bright flash cut across the now dark sky just as small droplets of rain began to fall. (M/n) gulped. His heart felt like it was going to burst out of his chest. He hated thunder. The loud noise always terrified him. The boy covered his ears and then continued to make his way through the grass, which was slowly growing slick from the rain.
(M/n) jumped as the loud thunder made itself known. Despite (M/n) firmly covering his ears, he could still hear the sound. He stumbled about, not knowing what to do, when suddenly the noise that before seemed far away, now boomed too close for comfort. With fear, (M/n) looked up, and his eyes widened as he realised too late that there was a thunder strike coming straight for him.
He turned, about to get out of the way when he slipped on the grass and fell. He grunted as his face slammed itself into the ground. The boy gave up fight and slumped onto the grass. Was this really how he was going to die?. . . Well, at least he'd be able to see his mother. . .
He squeezed his eyes shut, waiting for the impact. . . But to his surprise, it never came.
He was scared to open his eyes, but slowly, he forced himself to. His body was cold and wet, and the rain had made his (h/c) hair cling to his forehead. He turned to look at the sky, and was shocked to see that it wasn't dark anymore. The grey storm clouds no longer roamed about, and the sun was high in the sky. Was this. . . Heaven?
It occurred to the male that he still had his bag. It was absolutely drenched! If he still had his things, did that mean he survived the lighting strike? With curiosity, and a little fear, the male opened up his wet bag and the first thing he fished out was his phone.
