Kenshin observed the troops that he'd assembled only recently. He could already imagine the scorched battlefield, the fallen bodies, the metallic scent of blood. All of these thoughts filled him with adrenaline and desire. He wanted to be on the battlefield right now! His body was screaming out for a fight.

"We should be ready to set off soon, Lord Kenshin. I will keep you informed if anything changes." Akitsu murmured as he observed the troops too. Kenshin wordlessly nodded. Usually, he would not be so enthusiastic to fight against armies weaker than his own, however (M/n)'s absence was beginning to take a toll on his mental health. It was making him crave to see a sea of bodies and blood. The fighting helped distract him from his many worries about (M/n).

"Lord Kenshin!" Chisana called out. The blonde turned to look at the younger girl as she came rushing over with a piece of paper and a quill at hand.

"Are the medical supplies ready for the ride?" Kenshin queried the girl. Chisana showed Kenshin what she'd written down. It was all the stock her and the other healers had packed. The lord scanned over the neat handwriting. Once he finished reading the list he gave a nod of approval.

"That is enough. This war will not last too long for we have a bigger army so this is the perfect amount. Tell all the healers to get their horses and equipment ready, we depart soon." Kenshin instructed. Chisana looked very determined and nodded her head.

Kenshin watched the girl's behaviour and an unnoticeable smile perked up on his lips. Sometimes Chisana behaved a tad like (M/n). She was stubborn but she was also willing to learn and be independent. Independent. Kenshin's smile fell at that word. Independence. . . Was what led to (M/n)'s first kidnapping. He let (M/n) be alone and it led to his kidnapping. Independence. He taught (M/n) to fight to protect himself when Kenshin was away. . . It was the reason for his second kidnapping.

The word began to leave a bitter thought in his mind. He gritted his teeth and tried to clear his mind. Instead, he thought of the battlefield again, and how he would feel alive as he cleaved through the enemy lines. His anger simmered down. It wasn't forgotten, it was just pushed aside for now. . .

Renko's POV

Renko was training her men who were also going to be joining Kenshin's fight. She worked tirelessly to ensure the men she was sending off were in tip-top shape. She was obviously going to be joining the battle too, after all, she was the one who started the war in the first place. She didn't feel bad about it one bit. . . She saved Sora, who had told her that she was suffering in that clan.

Now the girl was in a much more better place. Here, she would be valued and Renko would make sure of that. Renko was about to instruct one of her men when one of her close maids called out to her. Renko turned to the other.

The maid appeared startled and like she had some news that she wanted to share. Renko's eyes widened, sensing the urgency in the maid's expression. She quickly looked back to her men.

"Dismissed! Join Kenshin's men and wait for further instruction." She ordered. Obediently, all the men head to where Kenshin's men resided. Once Renko was sure that none of her men were around, she walked up to the maid. Her once harsh demeanour softened as she faced the girl.

"What's up? Why do you seem so troubled?" Renko queried worriedly. The maid bit onto her lower lip, hesitating. That hesitation filled Renko with fear. What was wrong?
