(M|n)'s eyes held no emotion as he rode in Kenshin's arms. The long battle was finally over but unlike Kenshin's men, (M|n) didn't cheer in triumph. These last few weeks had been very rough for him and originally he thought he saw the light at the end of the tunnel when Akitsu saved him. . . But now his world was bleak.
He was the reason Akitsu died. He felt almost ashamed with himself. When Akitsu brought up the plan to escape he hesitated, telling himself that he needed Kenshin. . . But after witnessing him murder the ninja, he was beginning to have second thoughts. Kenshin killed Akitsu because he believed that he might steal him away.
Did he think about Chisana in a similar way? Did their close relationship irk him?. . . He was scared of anyone else getting hurt just because he had a close relationship with them.
(M|n) inhaled deeply. He wanted to sleep but whenever he shut his eyes, the corpse of Akitsu haunted him. They just left him to rot in that field. He didn't even get the chance to bury him. He teared up when remembering this.
(M|n) didn't notice Kenshin's horse slowing down. Not until he felt hands on his waist. His first instinct was to move away. Kenshin however did not let him create any distance. With his strong arms, he pulled the male into his chest and climbed off of the horse.
(M|n) sighed softly to himself and took a survey of their surroundings. They were at a lake. "D-Do you. . . Truly hate me, (M|n)?" (M|n) grit his teeth. The answer to this question was so obvious. . .
"Of course I do." (M|n) stated with cold, distant voice. "You killed Akitsu despite him surrendering. He just wanted t-to protect me from this cruel world. He never wanted to do anything more than that and you. . . Ruthlessly killed him. I'll never forgive you." (M|n)'s voice broke.
The boy let out a loud yelp of pain when he felt Kenshin's fingers clamp around his wrist. The warlord's nails dug into his skin. "K-Kenshin, let go. . . It hurts!" (M|n) exclaimed.
The male grunted as Kenshin roughly threw him against a tree. With his free hand, he slid the back of his finger against (M|n)'s cheek. "I don't care whether you love me or not. I will not let anybody near what's mine. With time, you'll learn to love me again. You have no say in this." Kenshin stated boldly. (M|n)'s eyes widened.
Not once in his lifetime did he ever expect Kenshin to say something like this. He was. . . Truly disgusted. "You're acting just like Nobunaga. He treated me like an object-" (M|n)'s words were cut off as Kenshin suddenly pulled him harshly away from the tree. He dragged him back over to the horse who had finished drinking and resting.
"You will never utter another man's name in my presence again, or so help me, I'll kill Chisana next." (M|n) was taken aback by Kenshin's words. He thought. . . Kenshin loved him? Why would he kill the people he was close to if he did?! (M|n) had no more fight in him. He didn't want anyone else to get hurt, and so. . . He gave in.
He forced his body to relax. "Okay. . ." The dark veil on Kenshin's expression lifted once he heard (M|n)'s soft answer. The next thing the male knew, the warlord was beaming.
"Good. Now, let's get going. We need to join up with the rest of the men and head back." (M|n) simply nodded his head. He let Kenshin hoist him back up onto the horse. The lord joined him, sitting behind. His arms encircled the other as he reached for the reigns.
(M|n) stared straight ahead. These arms that used to make him feel safe and warm now made him feel trapped. As Kenshin's horse began moving, (M|n) thought back on his past with Kenshin. What would he have done if he never encountered Kenshin that day? Would he have suffered like he was right now?. . .
(M|n) shook his head. He didn't want to think about this anymore. He didn't want to think about death, he didn't want to think about Kenshin's harsh words, he wanted to distract himself. So, he attempted to make conversation with Kenshin as they rode.
