Sam walks into the bar with Ophelia and Libby and he sees Dean at the bar, talking to the bartender. Dean notices the trio and takes a drink, smiling at the attractive woman and then walking over to his family.
Sam finds an empty table and lifts Ophelia onto one chair and putting Libby on the chair next to her before he sits down himself, going through his father's journal and some research as Dean reaches them.
"I talked to the bartender." Dean says.
"Did you get anything? Besides her number?" Sam asks.
"Dude, I'm a professional. I'm offended that you would think that." Dean says and Sam gives him a look. "All right, yeah." Dean chuckles, holding up a napkin that holds the bartender's phone number on it.
"You mind doin' a little bit of thinking with your upstairs brain, Dean?" Sam asks.
"What's a downstairs brain?" Ophelia asks making the brothers share a panicked look.
"Nothing." Dean dismisses her question. "Look, there's nothing to find out. I mean, Meredith worked here, she waited tables, everyone here was her friend. Everybody said she was normal. She didn't do or say anything weird before she died, so... what about that symbol? You find anything?"
"Nope, nothing. It wasn't in dad's journal or in any of the usual books. I just have to dig a little deeper, I guess." Sam says.
"Well, there was a first victim, right? Before Meredith?" Sam asks.
"Right. Yeah." Sam pulls out a newspaper clipping. "His name was, uh -- his name was Bed Swardstrom. Last month he was found mutilated in his town house. Same deal -- the door was locked, the alarm was on."
"Is there any connection between the two of them?"
"Not that I can tell -- I mean, not yet, at least. Ben was a banker, Meredith was a waitress. They never met, never knew anyone in common -- they were practically from different worlds."
"So, to recap, the only successful intel we've scored so far is the bartender's phone number." Dean smirks, but notices Sam looking somewhere behind him. "What?" Sam gets up, starting to walk away. "Sam?" The younger one keeps walking away, leaving Dean confused, watching his brother approach a table with people sitting around it.
"What's he doing?" Ophelia asks.
"I don't know." Dean mumbles. He picks Libby up, letting Ophelia jump from the tall chair before he grabs her hand. Dean walks over to where Sam is talking to a blonde woman. Ophelia feels the bad energy from her and backs up into Dean who wraps his arm around her, just taking it as her not wanting to be too close to any strangers.
"Oh, I did. I came, I saw. I conquered. Oh, and I met what's his name, something Michael Murray at a bar." Meg says.
"Who?" Sam asks.
"Oh, it doesn't matter. Anyway, the whole scene got old, so I'm living here for a while." Meg says. Dean loudly clears his throat, but neither acknowledge him.
"You're from Chicago?" Sam asks.
"No, Massachusetts -- Andover. Gosh, Sam, what are the odds we'd run into each other?" Meg says.
"Yeah, I know, I thought I'd never see you again." Sam says.
"Well, I'm glad you were wrong." Meg says. Sam nods as Dean clears his throat even louder this time. "Dude, cover your mouth."
"Yeah, um, I'm sorry, Meg. This is, uh -- this is my brother, Dean. And my niece, Ophelia. And you remember Libby." Sam says.
"This is Dean?" Meg asks, causing the older brother to smile.
