The party was in full swing by the time we arrived.Loud music blasted from sound speakers making talking impossible. The place was a cluster of busy bodies-Some dancing and others bopping their heads to the tune of music. The whole place was a kaleidoscope of different activities as couples openly made out on couches and some made do against walls.Disgusting, obviously.I was suddenly so glad that Fahd hadn't hosted his party at his house. They would have ruined it's holy environs.
We scanned the room for Fahd and finally found him by a pool table at the other end of the room.I looked around in despair wondering how I could make my way through the crowd without getting hit by any flailing limb belonging to some drunk or careless teenager.
Jay suddenly took my hand in his and laced our fingers together,a sense of security settling in me and led me into the crowd trying to maneuver us to Fahd's end.I looked at our entwined fingers for a while before looking up at him.His palm was soothing and having mine in his brought to me a sense of ease.I clasped my fingers around his tighter.
We moved to the other side of the room without any drama yet Jay held my hand as we walked over to Fahd who was trying to make a shot. The ball hit a white ball in the middle of the pool table earning him a point.
"Way to go birthday boy."I smiled wrapping him in a hug.He handed the cue to the next player and Rachel followed on my action and so did Jay giving him these bro hugs which ended with a friendly back slap.
"I got you something."I smiled offering him the watch I had nicely wrapped for him.
"Aww,you shouldn't have."Fahd said taking a cursory glance at Jay.
"I got you this,Mike made you a card."Jay offered handing him a blue paperbag with a familiar birthday card sticking out of it.So he hadn't disappeared the day we went to the mall to get his ex gifts. The gifts were for Fahd.A sense of relief flooded over me.
"I miss the little Dude, tell him I'll be coming for him on Friday ."Fahd told his friend.
My gaze shifted to Rachel urging her to bring out her gift. She shrugged it off by telling Fahd,"Hey, I'm saving up for a car so I couldn't get you anything dope.Just know me trusting you to Harry is your greatest present okay?"
"Uh..sure?"A surprised Fahd replied.
"Nice, now I'm going to find myself something interesting to engage in."She announced walking away leaving the two boys staring incredulously after her.
"I'm going to find Harry.Catch you later."I announced breaking the silence.
I made my from the pool table and stood for sometime to get familiar with my surroundings.
The placed was jam packed with people looking wonderful and so were the colourful decorations.I looked around and my eyes finally met with the girl I was looking for.She waved at me from the kitchen in which she was stuffing drinks in a refrigerator and I quickly walked to her.
"You made it."Harry smiled giving me a hug.
"Of course I did."
"Is Rachel with you?She was telling me something about getting in an argument with her Mum and losing her ride or something."She asked looking around the room.
"Don't worry she's here somewhere.She came with us."I replied.
"Us?" Harry questioned.
"Yeah,we came with Jay."I explained.
"Ah, tell me more." she winked handing me a can of Ginger Ale.
Ping! Harry's phone chimed. She scrolled through her phone and a look of panic spread across her face.
