"Happy Birthday Camilla." Suzanne smiled pulling from the hug. I smiled back at her then looked fondly at my family and friends who bustled around me.
It was minutes since I'd received the best surprise of my life, the people I loved most in this world threw me a surprise party. I ran my hand across the birthday girl sash Mum had pinned across my upper body , marveled at the diamond sequinned tiara Benji had slipped on my head, the bouquet I'd received from Dad and the endless hugs and kisses from friends. The sweet highlights of the evening made my insides churn and I truly felt like a princess. For everyone had gone through all the hassle and lies to throw me a splendid surprise party. Guess none of them actually had appointments today as they had revealed earlier this week. I did ask them about it though, their replies were satisfactory.
"I had the countdown up start of this month." Harry confessed.
"I never for a second thought of bailing on you." Rachel had stated.
"Hey." A deep voice drew me from my thoughts.
"Chad, hi." I responded.
"Happy Birthday Camilla." He smiled looking up at me.
"I would have come over to wish you earlier but your girlfriends hogged you good." He joked.
"Thanks Chad. It's such a pleasant surprise nonetheless." I added.
"You being here, I mean." I clarified.
He slowly but steadily met my gaze, "I'm sorry."
My brows perked up.
"I was a douchebag, for ghosting you these past few weeks." He confessed casually slipping his hands into his pocket.
"I'll let it slide. Thinking about it it's my fault too. I should have told you earlier about Jay and I. I'm sorry." I apologized.
He looked up at me and smiled, I smiled back at him.
"Friends?" He suggested.
"Friends." I agreed with a laugh as we fist pumped.
"I'm going to grab a soda. See you around, birthday girl." He waved walking away.
I turned my attention from Chad's retreating figure to the girls walking towards me.
"Happy birthday Camilla." Diamond smiled up at me wrapping me in a hug.
The strawberry blonde beside her hugged me too. Her resemblance with Diamond uncanny. Her makeup was done flawlessly giving her this rosy look. Her hair curled effortlessly down her back and I marveled at the time and efforts she'd probably put in it.
"Camilla, this is my sister, Kaitlin." Diamond introduced her.
"Kaitlin, meet Camilla. Ben's sister."
"Happy birthday Camilla." Kaitlin smiled up at me handing me a gift box.
"Thanks. But you really shouldn't have gone through all that trouble." I opined.
"It's just some pale Avon cherry lip gloss." She waved it off.
"Every girl likes lip gloss at least." She shrugged.
"My last tube run out weeks ago. Thanks." I smiled at our similar taste.
"Hey pumpkin." Benji arrived greeting his girlfriend with a kiss on her lips.
"Hey." Diamond replied kissing him back. I whipped my head to the side, a bit nauseated by the sight and my eyes locked with Kaitlin's. We burst into soft ripples of laughter drawing their attention back to us.
