Chapter 18 : Triggered

Our Biology class was going on field trip to the plains to witness wildlife and have a feel of the diversities of nature this weekend.So,on the set day after my slips had been signed, I got ready.

"Don't forget to apply your mosquito repellent.It's the mosquito season and I wouldn't want you to catch anything okay?" Dad advised as he drove me to school.

"Bye Dad,love you." I announced placing a kiss on his cheek as the car came to a halt at my school.

"Good morning Mr.Parker." Harry and Rachel chorused as Dad rolled down the windows to speak to them.

"Hey girls.I hope you will be staying out of trouble ....."Dad droned as I rolled my eyes and made my way to the trunk to get my stuff out.

" And don't forget to lock your doors..."

"Yeah Dad,we get it.Thanks." I said pulling my two suffering friends from the car .Sometimes Dad was just too over protectively annoying.

"That was like so embarrassing ."I muttered as soon as I was sure he'd driven away.

"Tell me about it."Harry added as we dragged our stuff to the bus parked in front of the school.

After our stuff had been carefully loaded into the bus,we started taking our seats.
Harry took one of the backseats with Fahd as Rachel and I sat a bit further away from them.

" It sucks to not have a boyfriend."Rachel moaned throwing her head on the headrest and looking back at Harry and Fahd.The two seemed to be engrossed in watching something on Fahd's phone and giving a running commentary on it. Probably anime.Harry loved anime and it was cute seeing the young couple watch it together as it brought a smile to both faces.
Rachel's comment was momentarily blocked out of my mind as Jay climbed into the bus meeting my eye in the process.He looked behind me and his facial expression hardened at the sight of something or someone.
He made his way towards me to the next seat on which he sat.

" Hey man,"He greeted his seat buddy.

"Hey." Chad responded as Jay placed his airpod back in his ear. He was probably listening to music considering he wasn't really paying much attention to his surroundings.

" What are you looking at?"Rachel asked when she realised that I wasn't paying much attention to her.
She looked behind and noticed Jay on the seat behind ours.She smiled and shook her head.

The bus was soon full and after a role call,we set of for the wilderness.We were barely half an hour in the journey when Rachel passed out.
Why did she have that special talent of sleeping easily. I tried shutting my eyes to catch some sleep.After sometime,I gave up because I wasn't feeling sleepy.
I busied myself staring out of the window at...road and grass?

"Hey," Jay said tagging at Rachel's sleeve.

"What!" Rachel said glaring at him for waking her up from her sweet slumber.

"Raquel right?"

"Rachel." She hissed.

"Yeah that,My seats got a terrible view." He stated.

"So?"

"I think we should switch seats.I want to view the scenes out at your place." He said calmly.

"If it weren't for you I wouldn't have even looked at him." Rachel muttered to me getting up from her seat and going to sit at the back with Chad.

I pretended to not notice the new seating arrangement by I
concentrating on my road and grass admiring.

" Wouldn't Camilla seem bored with you sitting at the back,why don't I switch seats with her?"Chad asked Rachel.

"I think she's comfortable sitting where she is." Jay cut in hurriedly.

"You okay Camilla?" Chad pressed.

"I'm cool, thanks." I answered immediately bringing a smirk onto Jay's face for some unknown reason.
Chads face gradually grew dull as he sunk back defeated on his seat.
"Well that's settled then." Jay said airily placing one of his airpods in my ear.
Yes,I was right earlier,he was listening to music.

I turned to look at him as he smiled.

"What,you don't like it?" He asked.

"I do like it." I replied as Rudimental's Lay it all on me , featuring Ed Sheeran took over my senses.

I listened to the song as we chatted about everything and nothing.
I didn't really know how it happened but my eyes suddenly grew heavy and I found myself drifting of to slumberland .

" Camilla,"Jay called softly gently playing with my fingers.
I woke up lifting my head from his shoulder.I looked up at him in embarrassment as I realised I had totally fallen asleep on the boy I liked shoulder.I just hoped I didn't drool or do something embarrassing.

"Hey,"He called as I looked up at him.

" You look cute when you sleep."He said simply sending waves of excitement through me.He had this way of easily delivering compliments to me without really knowing the ripping effects it had on me. I picked myself up from the seat and handed over his airpod .

"Thanks,see you later." I said quickly getting of the bus not wanting him to see how heated my face had suddenly become.

"Argh Camilla!" Rachel screamed ignoring her bags and running up to me excitedly.

"What?" I asked wanting her to spill the good news immediately.

"Miss Parker,Miss Winston. Your luggage." The teacher on duty called as we forgot about what we were talking about and rushed to take our bags.

Soon,we were done hauling our bags to our room and started unpacking. Harry ,Rachel and I were sharing a room.
We unpacked laughing and gossiping while munching in some snacks Rachel had smuggled into the Cabin.
That girl could smuggle anything from apple to zucchini.

"OMG Camilla,were my eyes deceiving me or did Jay just switch seats in the bus because of you." Harry laughed.

"I ...he said he wanted to get a better view.."

"Of you, obviously." Rachel cut in.

"He was so staring at you like a love sickpuppy when you were sleeping on his shoulder.It was just all so cute." Rachel coed as I looked up at them a smile gently playing on my lips.

Ping!
A message popped up on my phone screen as I typed back a reply right away to Benji.

Benji: You arrived alive?

Me:Yup.

Benji:Argh!Your parents are driving me nuts.

Me:My parents!
Anyway what did you do?

Benji:I like barely broke curfew and Mum and Dad wanna stress me.

Me:Your cute little sister wasn't around to help you out of this one was she?

Benji:Haha.
Not helping

Me:Oh,

Benji:The most like annoying thing is that they're moping around the house acting like the lost a kid.Like I'm still around.

Me:Lol,they miss their favorite child.

Benji:As if...

Me:Will talk to you tomorrow okay?
I'm still unpacking.

Benji:yeah,yeah later

I smiled as I plucked my phone on charge.I lay sprawled on my bed.Tommorow would be an exhausting day.

Okay,so I felt .....well its like you've thrown Chad away.And Bam!He's back.
