Chapter 22.

[Now Playing: Sweet Tooth by Cavetown]
~~~[POV: DREAM]
Dream wiped off the counter of the bakery's register, sighing in irritation as a smudge stayed stubbornly onto it. Pressing all his weight against the smudge and wiping it off aggressively until it came off, picking up the rag and tossing it into the bag of dirty cloth's that they kept in the cafe for one lucky employee to take home and wash.
Dream had been working in the bakery for a while, he saw a few people from his school every once in awhile and worked with Niki Nihachu in the cafe as well, plus he only once had to take the dirty cloth's bag home to clean once, and fortunately he's only had to deal with a few Karen's so far.
He was glad he was able to enjoy his job in peace, especially since he only really had gotten it in the first place to start saving up for an apartment.
"Hey Niki are you done with that batch?" Dream questioned as he walked behind the counter from where he was cleaning it, and he looked over at the pink-haired girl, who was currently flapping a oven mitt over the freshly baked peanut butter cookies in attempt to cool them down.
"Yep, in a few minutes they'll be ready to be put on the display!" Niki announced as she turned around to face Dream who was now looking hungrily at the warm cookies, the smell of them was drifting through the kitchen and right to Dream.
"Dream I made you a few extra, you can stop drooling over them now." Niki teased gently as she gestured towards the cookies that were already placed to the side, Dream grinning giddily as he grabbed one and shoved it in his mouth.
"Thanks Niki!" Dream's chirped, his voice slightly muffled by the cookie in his mouth. Niki only nodding as she wiped off her hands with the rag she kept on the oven,
"Have we had anymore customers while I was baking this batch?" Niki asked as she continued to check the still-hot cookies meticulously.
"Just a old couple who ordered some muffins, but nobody else otherwise." Dream shrugged as he reached for another cookie, Niki's hand reaching out to stop him,"Save them for later," She frowned before turning to another bowl of mix behind her, they were low on employees today since the other baker had called out sick only a hour before work, so she was having to keep up with a baking a lot of different things at the same time. Dream felt slightly bad for Nihachu since it meant she'd probably end up working overtime, and he might have to as well. Oh well, he enjoyed his job so no harm done in his eyes.
The bell above the door rang, and Dream immediately rushed out to greet the customers. Only to see the familiar trio of teens, Ponk, Foolish, and Sam. Dream greeted them with a practiced wave and smile as he did for all customers, who all gave small smiles back.
"Heya Dream, since when did ya work here?" Ponk greeted with a question,
"I've been working here for a while, you must've just come here whenever I wasn't in." Dream shrugged as he clicked the screen a few times and awaited for them to give their orders. They all seemed to be taking their time, which he didn't mind. However, Foolish had tapped the glass of the counter as he were thinking, so it had left a bit of a imprint for him to clean later.
Dream sighed as he tapped his foot against the floor out of slight impatience, watching as the trio mumbled things to one another.
