Chapter 16.

[Now Playing: Gooey by Glass Animals]
~~~[POV: DREAM]
Dream slumped into his chair, still in shock of what he'd done. He just walked out of the restaurant, not to mention in front of three people from his school who could probably spread all sorts of drama about him. Dream thought, he knew his family had come home late last night, but if he remembered correctly, his sister had gone to her girlfriend's house last night.
Which meant that the weed was free for grabs as long as; One, she actually left it, and two, he didn't get caught trying to get it. Last time his tolerance hadn't been the best, but now that he'd have it before he was sure that he could be better with it. The temporary surge of euphoria had been enough to draw him back in, when you had little to be happy about, any happiness was welcomed, false or not.
He sat up from his desk, tiptoeing to the door and opening it. Wincing slightly as it creaked open, his family having made sure that his door was creaky all the way back when he was thirteen so that he wouldn't be able to sneak out. Quite the pathetic attempt, there was many things they could've done to really try and truly prevent him from sneaking out, one of which being an actually decent family that Dream wouldn't feel the need to try and get away from. But that was just an idea, Dream thought bitterly as he snuck into his sister's room, opening the same drawer where he'd put it back.
Wrapping his fingers around the box and pulling it out, stuffing it in his pocket before returning to his own room. His parents had sealed her window shut, but his was still open and very available to sneak out of. Which, she still somehow snuck out in a way, they thought that his sister's girlfriend was a platonic girl friend, and not someone she was dating. Ah, the joys of being in a homophobic household, Dream sniggered at his own joke as he unlatched the hook to the window and jumped out.
Barely landing on his feet as he jumped out, glancing around like a wild animal before dashing down the familiar neighborhood he had lived in all his life. He had heard of an alleyway between his neighborhood and where all the actual stores were, things like cafes and drug shops.
Walking down the street had always been an eerie time for Dream, perhaps having grown up hearing the stories told to his sisters about young women and men getting kidnapped and having other horrid things happen to them.
He tried to keep his mind on other things while he walked, like the grey tabby cat that was sitting on the fence. Despite that, his mind kept returning to the subject along with worried thoughts of someone finding him. He knew that the chances of someone he knew finding him was low, but he also knew they were never zero.
Dream shook those thoughts from his head, instead focusing on the lonesome crow perched upon the rooftop of a building. The crow turning its head around a few times to get a better look at the teenager before cawing and flying off, which Dream only found slightly weird since he usually saw crows with others, as well as seeing them flying around during the day. But he didn't want to think too deeply about it, he knew that he would be able to do that at some random point of the day when he was bored, or probably during a conversation...
Dream sighed, watching the crow circling around in the sky a few times before it landed on a lamppost which's light looked like it had been busted for years, dead bugs littering the inside of the lamp. He lit the lighter he had been keeping in his pocket ever since the night with George and took out of the cigar-shaped weeds.
Taking a huff of the smoke, watching as the wisps curled around one another in a dance. Dream's eyes flickering back over to the lamppost as its light flickered on and off, which if Dream was being honest, he found incredibly weird. The crow also seemed to have found it weird, because it startled off its post and flew back to the building with a loud annoyed caw. Dream laughed at the bird, not really knowing if it was from the weed or if he actually found the irritated crow amusing.
