the past knows worst
and the future knows best
but it's the present that's always put to the test
i danced with the rhythm
always on time
and spent the rest leeching
off other's rhyme
jealous fields grow
while compassionate die
yet jealous fields writhe
in compassionate's eye
you took the gamble
and played pretend with the die
now no one is left
to hear when you cry
the past knows worst
and the future knows best
a dead man starts walking
to finally rest
