words are worth in autumn's hearth
a dreary smile or dreadful gaze
I look for your eyes in the streaks of dirt
and find nothing but bygone daysthere's little done when it's all gone
so I take up the cross and take a step
even though I know I'm just a pawn
it'd hurt if I'd be abandoned like the restwhat are words in autumn's hearth
I know soon it'll disappear
and yet, I struggle, for what it's worth
perhaps because I loved this yearloving gives as much as it gets
at least, that's how it's supposed to go
but my thoughts now are just regret
when suddenly, I'm left with my echomy memories slip like fallen sand
and I know soon, winter will come
and yet as I slow my outstretched hand
I think it's not yet time to be donewords are worth in winter's hearth
a cheerful smile, or loving gaze
perhaps I'll savor undermirth
and continue on my resolved days
