Monday to Friday flew by faster than I could react to, and it was suddenly the last hour of my day in office before the weekend would greet me with open arms.
I was tired though, even if I had been to this office before, and the work I did here didn't change much from the one I did in London, it was still filled with new adjustments, and me and my boss here in Monte Carlo had looked out for a way for me to take French classes during the evenings so I could feel at least a bit comfortable with speaking the language, more than saying the most common phrases.
And if you thought that I would have a couple of easy days coming into a new job, with new colleagues and a new boss to adjust myself to the new situation, you are wrong.
From the moment I put my foot in that office, I was thrown into planning for a fashion event that would take place in May, and it was of course the big Amber Lounge Fashion Show that our company would help out with. The way I had almost dropped my cup of coffee when I asked about when it would take place, and I somehow had forgotten about the fact that it was during one of the biggest weekends in this town, when Formula 1 made it's entrance for a couple of days.
That was also the moment I realised that I would probably work closer to Daniel's job than I realised, even though our company was mostly working with the fashion industry, I knew that Formula 1 was bigger than big here, and the fact that we would even get the opportunity to watch the sport during the weekend when the whole city would shut down because of the race, I couldn't wait to text Daniel and tell him about it.
Speaking of Daniel, even though he had been having a hectic schedule ever since our small breakfast, he had made sure to send me some messages, some involving memes about moving to a foreign country, but also to check up on me and how it was going for me on the new job.
I may have made him a promise to try and watch the race, just for him. But in all honesty, I had no idea where to watch it or when it was. And being as stubborn as I was, I never asked him about the details.
Plus, I knew that he would be on his phone to the minimum from today on, as he was now in Imola, and I was thankful that I seemed to have better weather than him at the moment, from the pictures he had sent me from when he had arrived to Italy.
So that was my plans for the weekend, as soon as I would finally be able to leave the office for the rest of the weekend. Don't misunderstand me, I loved what I was doing, but after this week with so many new expressions and trying to hang on when people forgot that there was people in the office now that couldn't understand French, it had been taking a toll on my energy.
A weekend containing my sofa, a bottle of wine and some take away-food. And I planned on visiting Pascal and Lili tomorrow morning for breakfast again, already making it a tradition to at least come visit them during the weekend in support.
Speaking of that coffee shop, I had found time to go there in the mornings for my first cup of coffee and just seeing the happiness of the elderly couple gave me enough energy to keep up with work, mostly because I realised quickly that the coffee shop wasn't too far away from our office, and many of my colleagues went there as well from time to time.
They had invited me to go out this weekend, but I had to decline their offer. In all honesty, I wasn't in a big mood going out with a lot of people this weekend and partying because I was still adapting to this new town. And I still had some unpacking to do, because earlier this week my last things from London finally arrived, making it a lot easier for me to start making my home my own.
But I did know that a part of me would start get tingly and die for a night out in this town, because people here surely knew how to party. And socialising was one of my favourite hobbies in my free time, because I loved getting to know new people, hear their stories and have a great time with them.
