I knew that I was in big need of putting up a better workout routine, especially after I got completely exhausted over bringing up Charlotte to my apartment. And let's ignore the fact that Daniel did most of the work, and I couldn't have done it without his help, something a taxi driver wouldn't really help me with if I never called him.
Once we were in my apartment, and we managed to take Charlotte upstairs to my bedroom, Daniel went downstairs as I quickly got Charlotte undressed and changed into one of my t-shirts I usually slept in when having people over. Thank god for makeup wipes, because I would've never been able to remove her makeup otherwise, and I knew for a fact that if I was in Charlotte's condition, I would've wanted someone to remove my makeup so I didn't have to face the disaster in the mirror the morning after.
Before I went downstairs to say my goodbyes to Daniel, even though I told him that he was allowed to leave once he had helped me get Charlotte into bed, I changed into my pyjamas and removed the heels from my feet.
With careful steps, I walked downstairs, even though I knew that Charlotte wouldn't even wake up if I would bring a party back home right now. Daniel was seated in my sofa, scrolling through his phone before he noticed my presence.
I had no idea for how many hours he had been sleeping before I woke him up, but the clock was close to 3am by now and I could only assume how tired he must've been, even though there was no obvious evidence of it.
"Daniel, once again, I can't thank you enough for this. This is the first and last time I'll call you in the middle of the night for help, I promise." I whispered once I was down from the stairs.
Watching him jump up from the sofa, he shook his head. "This is what friends are for, and if it had been you that was in this state, I would never forgive myself if I didn't help you out. Plus, Charlotte is your friend as well so of course I want to help out."
A big yawn left his lips, making me giggle. "Well old man, you should probably go back home to sleep a bit, because that's what I'm surely will do."
Giving me an angry look, he grabbed my arm, making me nearly fall into his chest. "Hey, I'm not THAT old, I'm literally only five years older than you, old lady."
Giggling, I pointed my tongue at him before placing my arms around his waist. "Fine, we're the old grumpy friends in Monte Carlo then."
"That's more like it! Anyways, text me when you wake up tomorrow will you? And sleep tight."
Looking up at him after he hugged me tightly, I was taken by surprise when I felt his lips touch the crown of my head, making me think for a second that I was only imagining it, the alcohol playing games with me.
"Good night Daniel!" I whispered once his arms left my body and he walked over to my door.
"Oh I will!"
After standing in the same spot for a moment, not being able to move away from there, it eventually hit me that he probably just did THAT. A part of me knew that he went all cuddly once he was sleepy, but this was something new. Not knowing if he was playing games with me or just doing it as a sweet gesture as he probably saw on my sleepy face that I was ready in any second to hit my pillow with my face, I tried to shake my overthinking off while taking heavy steps on my way back upstairs, ready to sleep.
---
Waking up the morning after, I literally jumped up from bed when I woke up from a chaotic dream of having the police look after me and Charlotte because I never texted Adrienne, seeing the tabloids in my dream over how they were seeking Daniel and his car, assuming that we were kidnapped.
